Light Science Technologies Holdings PLC (AIM:LST) (LSTH) CEO Simon Deacon speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after the technology company released a trading update for the 12 months ended 30 November 2023. Deacon gives the highlights from the year, noting a 13% increase in revenue and a 27% improvement in margin, rising from 17.7% to over 23%. This financial improvement was further exemplified by a substantial reduction in overheads by over 20%, leading to a 50% decrease in expected losses, down to £1.3 million from £2.7 million. A key development in the past year was the acquisition into LSTH's Controlled Environment Agriculture division of UK-based Tomtech (UK) Limited for £500,000. Tomtech designs, manufactures and installs monitoring and control systems for commercial greenhouses and polytunnels and has been in operation for over 35 years. We continue our commitment to Pyrum Innovations AG – a technology partner specialized in the chemical recycling of end-of-life tires. Thanks to Pyrum's innovative and stable technology, we can feed the pyrolysis oil produced from end-of-life tires into our network as a recycled raw material. Our new agreement with Pyrum aims at the realization of new plants and the scaling of the technology. We therefore welcome the fact that Pyrum and REMONDIS Gruppe are pursuing concrete plans to build a plant based on Pyrum technology in Bremen.  The planned waste tire pyrolysis plant in Bremen represents a further step towards a circular economy. The products which will be produced at the plant can once again be incorporated into production cycles: The recovered carbon black is used in tire production, and we at BASF use the pyrolysis oil as a recycled raw material at the beginning of our value chain. This will reduce the need for fossil raw materials, reduce the CO2 footprint of our products compared to conventional products and enable us to expand our portfolio of mass balanced Ccycled® products for our customers. Process even more scrap tires into valuable raw materials for new products! In numerous projects with our customers, chemically recycled BASF products such as polyamides or polystyrene have been successfully processed into backpacks, pants, packaging and other new products. The pyrolysis oil obtained from end-of-life tires replaces fossil raw materials as a raw material at the beginning of the value chain is assigned to our certified Ccycled® products using a #massbalance approach and reduces their product carbon footprint compared to conventional products. ZHYRON HEU Project partners met at CIRCE - Centro Tecnológico facilities, in Zaragoza Spain, for the Project Kick-off meeting.📍🤝 At this meeting, an overview of the project was presented, as well as the WPs and partners involved in each task.    About ZHYRON Project: Advancing the circular economy in the steel industry through innovative technologies.   In the coming years, direct reduction shafts and innovative electric arc furnaces will be installed at several steelmaking sites in Europe to follow the strategic guidelines of decarbonisation. The progress of these production processes will involve changes in the composition and management of the by-products generated, particularly those containing Zinc.
