#3 Nadya's adulting story Since 2022, my life partner Valentin SPOUTIL 李萬龍, and his business partner Simon Habran have been importing Belgian Beer in Taiwan, Brewery Bertinchamps. Getting to witness all of this up close — discussing small or big matters with Valentin (though what about an opinion from a 25 years old right..... 😅), delivering beers from bar to bar, and labeling countless bottles of beer. Now, most of our weekend drinking involves introducing Bertinchamps. (I have never worked in sales before, a significant percentage of the restaurants we approach convert to sales has given me a taste of the exhilarating rush of selling). I wasn't initially a fan of beer, but this whole journey has raised me to become someone that would enjoy a bottle of Legére 12pm on a Sunday, and a Triple on a cold Saturday night. (I'm not sure it's a good thing but well, anything with moderation, let's say?) It was fun and enriching, like enrolling in a business course for free. (Or for my labor in exchange? 🤔) Over the past two years, this Taipei Wine Show is a good indicator on how much they have grown. 2022, they started with a free booth supported by a partner, in exchange, all sales revenue went to the partner. 2023, they shared a small-size booth with the same partner. 2024, they are now confident to take a full booth themselves. Also in 2024, they expanded, bringing more brands of Belgium beer, not only Bertinchamps, like from Omer Vander Ghinste, etc, hence the name beer-square.tw. With this significant exponential growth, they want to continue bringing more selection of good beers in Taiwan. And each time I joined them for this kind of exhibition, it has been incredibly enjoyable. Getting to meet fellow people in the F&B industry and beer enthusiast. It's never just about selling beers, but all the chats and knowledge exchanging. Sometimes when my social battery ran out, I'll be hiding at the back labelling their cups or something, observing the bustling crowd, enjoying the ambience. So if this post reaches those in need of enriching their beer selection in the menu, or those like us who enjoy a good beer after their 9-5, please stop by this weekend. Top honours for #Torres15 at the #InternationalSpiritsChallenge2023 Torres 15 received the highest recognition at the International Spirits Challenge 2023, regarded as the most influential spirits competition in the world. An ideal choice for cocktails given its versatility, the brandy by Juan Torres Master Distillers won an ISC Trophy 2023 at the 28th edition of this prestigious competition, an honour only bestowed on 33 spirits of the 2000-plus entries, which were evaluated at blind tastings in London and Edinburgh. Torres 15 was not the only Juan Torres Master Distillers’ spirit to shine – the brandy #Torres20 and the orange liqueur #Magdala both took home gold medals. #TheInternationalSpiritsChallenge (ISC), an initiative of the British publishing group Drinks International, got its start almost three decades ago with the aim of discovering and recognizing the world’s best spirits. The competition’s importance resides in its longevity and rigorous blind tasting system in which a panel of industry experts tastes and evaluates a series of spirits grouped according to category, year, region, and style. #TorresBrandy is the preferred brandy brand among bartenders according to the Brand Report 2023 issued by Drinks International where it tops the lists Bestselling Brands and Top Trending Brands based on a survey of one hundred of what are considered the world’s best bars. The post below isn't a PR stint. We had the privilege of being part of Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa's birthday celebrations last month. He clocked a milestone age and celebrated it with close family and friends. Kenneth's leadership journey has always fascinated me. He is an exemplary leader. It is said that the ideal employee or leader is the right balance of technical competence and character competence. I can speak to his character competence. Kenneth pays the price. It was good to observe what leadership looks like on a family front. The tributes of his father, wife, children, friends and colleagues (who have now become friends) evidenced that the man applies leadership principles at work as well as at home. He leads his family. He has individual and collective relationships with them. I observed too, that every time I encounter Kenneth, he has become a better version of himself. These improvements are often subtle and can often be missed but they are there. He has grown in grace. This kind of progressive development doesn't just happen, there is tremendous discipline, deliberateness and dying to self that takes place internally. We don't just become. Behold, a role model.
