Today is international #BiodiversityDay. In my job, I have the privilege to visit dairy farmers on their farms. There I have conversations on how to produce the food we love and nutrition we need in harmony with nature. Farming in balance with nature is not easy. Not only because nature can be ruthless, but also because public views on what nature actually is are continuously evolving. But for me two things are constant: Every time I am on a farm and overlook the pastures, I get this sense of calmness. This is what nature does to me. And second, all of the farmers I have met farm with respect for nature. Their intention is not only to make a living, but also to pass on their land to the next generations. It’s my job to convey the value of nature protection to our customers and consumers. And to make sure that our farmers get renumerated for taking up the role of custodian. However, bee populations have been declining worldwide due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change. Our beehive initiative is a testament to our dedication to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Local Honey Production in 2024 🍯 We are thrilled to announce that our beehive is thriving, and we anticipate harvesting our first batch of local honey in 2024. Since 2020, we've been investing in the reforestation of the Açor Mountain Range, a project that not only restores natural habitats but also promotes the social and economic development of a region severely affected by wildfires. This initiative brings together the Arganil town council, the Coimbra School of Agriculture and the Jerónimo Martins Group, which is financing the reforestation efforts with five million euros. Excellent presentation on sustainable fishing, nothing wrong here. Mankind in his natural predator prey role at a proportionate scale. The problems we see now relate mainly to scaling up - too many demands and devastatingly efficient and destructive technologies. The same concept applies to farming as well. Growth is the problem and lack of incentives to control it.

Plus Pack has been chosen as one of 14 Danish companies to engage and inspire others in how to work with biodiversity.     “We invest in local biodiversity and make attractive outdoor locations available for our employees in and around our factory in Odense. Our efforts began as part of having a new warehouse building DGNB German Sustainable Building Council certified and we have been greatly inspired by our company focus on sustainability and social well-being”, says Camilla Haustrup Hermansen, Deputy CEO.    The global biodiversity is threatened and declining at a faster rate than ever before in time. This calls for collective action. Sustainability at its finest, but even this is not good enough for the radical environmentalist. We must support indigenous communities and preserve this way life.
