Building Financial Health & Wealth. Former hedge-fund guy focused on growing & protecting wealth for families & businesses | Keep more, grow smarter, protect your family | Connect to learn about tax & wealth strategies
You need this. You probably don’t have it. Your family will thank you. And… You can do it yourself. It’s a Letter of Direction and it goes with your Wills and Powers of Attorney. If you don’t have those also — get them. It’s a letter you can write yourself and it outlines your wishes for your family and assets. Think of: 🔵 Where will the kids go to school? 🔵 Do I want to fund family projects or activities? 🔵 Are there people you would like your family to interact with? 🔵 Are there religious, cultural, or language items you want pursued ? For folks with kids - it’s a good opportunity to outline how you would like your children parented for the guardian. A Will is legal and formal. This letter is non-binding and takes any form you would like (even on a napkin) - but may be equally important. #family #estate #investing #future

Did you know…? Without a valid Will, a person’s estate will be divided according to a standard set of rules known as the Rules of Intestacy. With this set of rules, property and possessions don’t always go to loved ones as the deceased may have wished, and without legal support, this decision is often difficult to overturn. The rules are applicable in England and Wales, and state that: ◾ Surviving partners do not automatically eceive the estate of the deceased. Cohabiting and long-term partners are not entitled to anything. ◾ Step-children are not recognised for the purpose of inheritance, only biological and adopted children are recognised. ◾ If the deceased was married or in a civil partnership, the entire estate will go to the surviving partner. Visit our website to learn more about the Rules of Intestacy.

Empowering Families in their Asset Protection & Estate Planning Goals. Principal solicitor at HazeLegal
REASONS PEOPLE PUT OFF WRITING THEIR WILL People may have difficulty deciding how to divide their assets among their heirs. It can be difficult to divide your estate among your children. Do you recall what happened to King Lear from Shakespeare? The height of irresponsibility, though, is having no Will. You have to do the work. The obvious solution — a fair distribution of assets amongst your children and spouse — is the best option in many circumstances. Giving each child the same inheritance, though, could not make sense in some families. There is a distinction between leaving an equitable inheritance, in which each child receives what is fair given their circumstances and leaving an equal inheritance, in which each child receives the same amount.
