Alongside four other NYC public defender organizations, The Bronx Defenders, Neighborhood Defender Service, New York County Defender Services, and Queens Defenders, we filed an amicus brief in support of the appointment of a federal receiver over New York City jails in Nunez v. City of New York. Given the outrageous violence, neglect, and suffering inflicted on the people we represent, no lesser remedy is appropriate.
