Today, we had the honor of welcoming Dr. Mandy Cohen, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Dr. Janet Wright MD FACC, Director of the CDC’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Million Hearts, to NeighborHealth. The conversation focused on a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention program supporting maternal health through remote blood pressure monitoring for patients delivering at Boston Medical Center (BMC), aiming to improve outcomes. "The top reason we are losing new moms is due to heart disease," said Dr. Cohen. "We want to make sure kids get off to a healthy start, but that moms and dads are healthy too." Together with partners from Massachusetts EOHHS, the Department of Public Health, including Commissioner Dr. Robert Goldstein, MassHealth, and Boston Medical Center, we discussed the positive impact of national collaboration to address stark disparities in maternal health outcomes among communities of color. Thank you to our public health leaders in D.C. and Massachusetts for their commitment to improving maternal health outcomes. Together, we can decrease health inequities for our patients. #HealthEquity #MaternalHealth #CDC #NeighborHealth
