🌍 The Peoples Forests Partnership, a valued member of the Natural Climate Solutions Alliance, has urged the Science Based Targets initiative to include forest communities in developing corporate decarbonization guidance. 🌱 Indigenous Peoples, traditional owners, and local communities receive less than 1% of climate finance despite being the best stewards of natural ecosystems. Their voices must be heard. 📊 Major corporations' Scope 3 emissions often exceed entire nations' emissions. The PFP supports using high-quality, rights-based carbon credits to address this, with direct community funding and ambitious decarbonization targets. 🗣️ Including these communities in carbon credit discussions is vital for effective climate finance and conservation. I'm thrilled to see Anna Lehmann's recent efforts highlighted in Quantum Commodity Intelligence's article. Congratulations, Anna, on your impactful leadership and unwavering commitment to community-centered carbon credit initiatives. Carbon credits have played a crucial role in mitigating climate change, and they hold even greater potential if we move past the debate of “to carbon credit or not carbon credit” and focus on refining and enhancing their application. It’s time for decisive action! Anna's call for the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to back limited carbon credit use for corporate Scope 3 emissions is a testament to the necessity of these projects in driving significant finance towards community-led conservation efforts. By including communities in the conversation, we ensure that the financial resources crucial for protecting and restoring our environment are directed where they are most needed. The role of carbon credits in achieving our climate goals cannot be overstated. Let's unite in making carbon credits more effective and inclusive. The future of our planet and its communities depends on it. We are excited to announce our Carbon Removal pre-purchase agreement and investment partnership with WEtell.Mobilfunk, a pioneering net-zero telecommunications service provider from Germany. 🎉 WEtell is expanding its biochar carbon removal portfolio by incorporating our direct biomass storage credits. Biomass storage offers the highest carbon removal efficiency per tonne of biomass used, maximizing the scalability and efficiency of the positive impact. WEtell’s investment in Carbonsate supports our mission to remove millions of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere in the coming years. Our climate efforts are highly aligned since both Carbonsate and WEtell aim at regeneration. That involves more than just preventing climate damage. Carbon Dioxide Removal is part of the solution to reversing global warming. Thanks to Alma Spribille, Grey Resor, Benjamin Thaidigsmann and the entire WEtell Team for making this happen! #carbonremoval #sustainability #netzero Johanna Broell Fabian Sperling

Decarbonizing our economy requires a multi-faceted approach, from accurately measuring emissions, to reducing these emissions and building more sustainable operations. Carbon credits do play a critical role in helping companies achieve climate commitments like Net Zero. Yet the continued evolution of the Voluntary Carbon Market can make setting a strategy challenging. #Sustainability leaders must adapt to evolving standards, emerging technologies and policy changes. It's exciting to share a partnership between Patch and Planet FWD - their expertise and focus on the Food, Beverage and Consumer sector is already helping brands like Ritual, Blue Apron and Patagonia Provisions to decarbonize and build more sustainable business models. Learn more about this exciting partnership in #climateaction
Planet FWD is proud to announce our partnership with Patch. Decarbonizing consumer companies requires multiple efforts, from accurate greenhouse gas emissions measurement and reduction strategies to leveraging carbon avoidance and removal to mitigate hard-to-abate emissions. Patch provides companies with access to the broadest global network of high-integrity climate action projects, across a range of technologies including direct air capture, biomass, enhanced weathering and nature-based solutions. This partnership allows Planet FWD to guide and support our customers on how best to integrate carbon avoidance and carbon removal projects in their decarbonization strategy. Hi everybody. I am sharing an article I published in Quantum Carbon Insights (no paywall) setting out some ideas on how we can better integrate the existing voluntary carbon market (VCM) into the Paris Agreement (PA) to both fight climate change and foster greater transfers of resources from the Global North to the Global South. The VCM is the key to tapping into the increasing realization by companies around the world that climate change is real and that they can and should do something about it. We therefore need to build links between the PA and the VCM to ensure that all carbon finance results in long-term transformation and that companies have a clear pathway to making more ambitious climate commitments. I would appreciate people's thoughts on this. #carbonmarkets #parisagreement #climatechange #sustainabledevelopment https://lnkd.in/eprx7kxW

Great article by my former colleague David Antonioli, ex EcoSecurities, ex Verra. It supports my vision that corresponding adjustments in the VCM could result in perverse outcomes of increasing the cost of NDC compliance to host countries, or an outright default. The notion of corresponding contributions, as proposed, have the opposite effect: it accelerates NDC implementation. And, crucially, the corresponding commitments proposed in the article ensure the long term adoption of the VCM-funded practices. Good proposals.
