❗Did you know that all employees should receive a Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS) when they start a new job? Casual employees must receive the Casual Employment Information Statement in addition to the FWIS. And employees on a fixed-term contract must receive the Fixed-Term Contract Information Statement in addition to the FWIS. These documents are updated in July each year and must be current at the time you provide it to the employee. They can be accessed on the Fair Work website. 💫Best practice tip: Incorporate the FWIS into your employee onboarding pack to ensure it becomes part of the process! 📞Need HR advice? National Transit Employee Appreciation Day has a personal significance to me so I’m gonna celebrate it. Of course, as an Metropolitan Transportation Authority subways and bus rider, I want to celebrate the people we see each day who make our connected lives possible. As an MTA Board Member, I see how incredible our transit workforce is, whether we are honoring someone who saved a life on the subway or learning more about the plethora of rider facing initiatives we are doing. The dedication is unparalleled. It’s special to me because my partner is a transportation worker on the front lines, working during those COVID lockdown days, staying past his shift through major snow storms and flash floods, pitching in with his colleagues when faced with a climate disaster in our own neighborhood. This work is not easy or flexible: being in the field at odd hours, not getting full recognition deserved each day, and at times facing escalating situations. So yeah, gonna celebrate it in honor of my partner in crime who has given my daughter and I the world- all through his dedication in transport. He’s been in the game longer than I have. Also, whenever we travel you know we hitting up the public transportation routes- working across language in places like Italy, Portugal, and Japan to talk to transit workers to connect and learn more about the life of a transit employee. 💪💪 #publictransportation #familybusiness
March 18th is National Transit Employee Appreciation Day 👏 To everyone across our departments & agencies: thank you for all you do to keep our riders moving! #TransitEmployeeAppreciationDay

Now's the perfect time to ensure your business's employee handbook is done the correct way. Employees should be able to look to a handbook to understand your policies, particularly attendance expectations, employment status, promotion policies, drug and alcohol policies and much more. Handbook development and organization itself is key.

Ready for the solution? Matt Wilhelmi and I reviewed a client case (in part one), then we discussed possible issues (part two) and now in Part 3 we discuss the solutions. I really enjoyed the deep dive into the topic of employee relations in this 3 part series. https://lnkd.in/gCH_c48R

Do you have a policy or code of conduct for work related events? A great policy should include: ✅ Types of events ✅ Expected standards of behaviour ✅ Additional company policies that still apply during such events e.g: ✅ Harassment and Bullying ✅ Code of Conduct ✅ Inappropriate Behaviour Staff should be made aware that the Christmas party is an extension of the workplace. As the person responsible for HR in your company, it's down to you to put policies in place to avoid unwanted behaviour, limit liability and ensure everyone still has fun. My latest blog post goes into this topic in detail 👉
