I have spoken with several consultants and numerous employers analyzing the fragmentation of their benefits offerings, propagated by a plethora of narrow, condition specific point solutions. How did we get here? One seemingly good idea after another. Each charging a PEPM or PMPM. As these are bolted onto a health plan, the cost for these mostly siloed programs not only becomes expensive, but they also lead to health plan fragmentation. The market is looking for fewer, broader and more integrated options.
