Yes,this is so interesting to learn when we see two layer2 links has equal internal root path cost to reach the root bridge via two different path but still we need to choose one of the port of this switch as "ROOT PORT" and in this case, the bridge IDs of the neighboring switches, S3 and S4, will be used to break the tie.Let's see how this will work by comparing the BID on both switches (in essence two different paths !!) and will elect the least one as ROOT PORT and other one as ALTERNATE PORT (it will be in forwarding once any thing damage happens to the primary layer2 link - those restoration is a separate topic and will talk more about the each roles ,timers etc to reach the convergence)
