It was a proud moment for Navguide Solutions LLP to be invited to the Indian Ocean MOU Annual Conference for a presentation and keynote address at Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania earlier in August. We thank the IOMOU Secretariat, led by Mr Achintya Bikash Dutta, for the invitation whereby the secretariat felt that our work in using empathetic technology in the organic upskilling of seafarers and reducing detentions would closely connect with the theme of the MOU and be beneficial to the Port State regimes and nations of the Indian Ocean rim. The presentation was delivered by Capt Debashis Basu on 30th August during the morning session. It was an incredible experience meeting the maritime leaders of the countries for an extended period of five days and discussing pertinent issues.

𝐀 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐓 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐢 I have recently had the good fortune of being invited to Amet University Chennai and witnessed the progressive nature of this esteemed organisation first-hand. In July, I visited all three campuses and addressed thousands of budding seafarers and most of the faculty. My discussions emphasized the importance of on-the-job skills to create a generation of maritime leaders, confident seafarers who will be assets to their organizations and proudly rule the seas. Hopefully, I could also give the students a glimpse of the life ahead and how resilience, competency and a sense of pride can be transformative. Obsessed as I am with the energy of the Gen-Z generation, the enthusiasm of those hall rooms was infectious! I will never forget the experience. My heartfelt thanks to Principal Capt. Srinivas Gopal at the AMET Main University campus in Kanathur, Principal Capt K Karthik at the AMET - Maersk Centre of Excellence at Thenpattinam, and Principal Capt. V. Chandrasekhar at the AMET City College for making me feel at home and organizing the visit internally. I’m also grateful to the senior management, Mrs Sangeetha Albin, Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajesh Ramachandren and Dr. Deepa Rajesh for this invitation and for their warm hospitality. A special thanks to Capt. Arvind Shankar, for sharing such insightful conversations. Thank you all for making me a part of the AMET experience. This month, I was honoured to be re-invited to participate in the syllabus revision discussions. My input focused on strategic moves to enhance hands-on skills using technology coupled with empathy. The conversations were enlightening, with organic contributions from senior professionals with diverse expertise. This time I was fortunate to share the stage with Mr. Sanjeet Kanungo, Principal of the Tolani Maritime Institute, Mr. Nipun C., an entrepreneur and innovator at heart, Mr Devesh Gautam, General Manager at OSM Thome, Capt Rohan Sabnis, Head of Crewing at Goodwood, Mr Suresh Shenoi, and many others. With the open-minded and progressive nature of this organization and the able young and experienced minds that are on the con, it does not come as a surprise that these walls have produced extremely successful professionals like Capt. Sartaj Gill , Mr Devesh Gautam among many others. I have no doubt that AMET will continue to stand as the leader in the maritime education space.
