Mil2Civ Blog Post: Networking | Turning contacts into career catalysts Transitioning from a military career to the civilian sector, requires a strategic approach and a well-established network. I believe for military personnel looking to thrive into the helicopter world, networking becomes an indispensable tool bridging the gap between the structured environment of the armed forces and the dynamic landscape of civilian rotorcraft operations. Networking: Is It Really Worth It? I was at a great Veteran networking event last night. I first attended about two years ago and admit I had some trepidation about how it might go because of the name. Veterans Beer Club The Denver group meets the second Wednesday of the month at a different location. There are other groups around the country and you can find them here on LI or on FB. Look them up. There is a beer (or two) consumed, but not required and it is one of the best veteran networking gatherings I have attended across the country. Networking is hard. Despite what you read of "Just network"! it is a skill you have to develop. Meeting people in-person, for the first time, and starting a conversation is uncomfortable, but the more you work at it the easier it becomes. I was talking with a vet last night and he had made a commitment to himself to come out and network. He was uncomfortable with it, but he knew he had to sharpen his skills. You never know how or where that conversation will lead. One of my favorite stories about meeting new people (Networking) is told in the link below of a man reporting to basic training who struck up a conversation with his seatmate on the plane. Like I said, you never know how the conversation will go....... https://lnkd.in/gRJM6UcB #veteranshelpingveterans #veteranemployment #militaryspouse #militaryspouseemployment #networking #talentacquisition #doitnow

I am currently looking for a company or organisation that would be willing to sponsor and host a networking event for Ex-forces, and serving personnel that are in the transition stage of leaving the forces. I would like to host the event in London initially, and then look to set up similar events in other regions of the UK further down the line. Why do I want to do this? after having had my own struggles when transitioning from the Army in 2012, I know how valuable it is to build a solid network around you that you are able to utilise and work with. Networking is something that all of those transitioning from the forces should be starting at the earliest possible stage and those of us that have left, it is something we should always be doing for us to develop and 'sharpen the saw'. My aim is to host the event in September, which will give me enough time to approach individuals for support and invite a couple of guest speakers along from different industries/sectors. Ideally I would like to aim this at Senior Non-commissioned Officer to Junior ranks. If anyone is able to support please reach out to discuss further. #networkbuilding #networking #exforces #resettlement #transition #transitioningmilitary #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransupport #careerconnections #growthmindset #growth #development #event #networkevent

🌟 The Power of Follow-Up: Building Rapport in the Recruiting Process 🌟 As recruiters, we dive into stacks of resumes, processing hundreds of applications per week. But here's a little secret: we don't mind when candidates reach out to follow up! In fact, it's a great way to stay on our radar and increase your chances of being remembered and further considered if you possess the qualifications we are seeking. Follow-up serves as a gentle reminder that you are still interested in the opportunity, showcasing your enthusiasm and commitment. It allows you to stay in front of us amidst the busy hiring process. Remember, professionalism and personality are equally significant when it comes to assessing if you would be a great fit within the team. By following up, you not only demonstrate your determination and proactive approach but also provide an additional opportunity to showcase your unique skills, experiences, and attributes. So, don't hesitate to reach out after submitting your application or attending an interview. A short, well-crafted follow-up message can make a lasting impression. It opens up the chance for further communication and helps us remember you amidst the sea of applicants. However, it's essential to strike a balance. Space out your follow-ups and respect the recruiter's time. If you haven't heard back after a reasonable period, a tactful follow-up can help you gain clarification on the status of your application. Remember, building rapport is a two-way street. We want to find the right fit just as much as you want to secure the perfect opportunity. So, make your voice heard and let us know you're eager to contribute to the team. Show us your enthusiasm, professionalism, and unique personality, and let's take the next step together towards finding that perfect match. #Recruitment #FollowUp #BuildingRapport #Professionalism #PowerOfConnection #HiringSuccess #PowerOfConversations #UnlockingPotential #wearehiring #defensecontracting #defenseindustry #brandesassociatesinc #bai #navy #navyveteran #navyseals #marines #marineveteran #army #armyveteran #airforce #airforceveteran #intelligence #camarillo #ptmugu #nbvc #california
