Leaders, 24 years ago my classmates and I walked up this ramp as basic cadets at the United States Air Force Academy.
Four years later, we tossed our caps in the air in celebration at graduation.
Back then the ramp read, “Bring Me Men…”
Today, it reflects the Air Force core values.
Integrity first.
Service before self.
Excellence in all we do.
As I attended our 20th reunion in Colorado Springs this weekend, it got me thinking about how important our values are to who we are personally & professionally.
I strive to uphold these core values not only as a wife, mom, daughter, friend, and more…
But also as a former Air Force officer, in corporate America, and now as a small business owner.
Values are 1 leg of a 3-legged stool that comprises the firm foundation of a successful business.
Your vision – the future you intend to create.
Your mission – what you do.
Your values – what you believe in.
It’s like building a sandcastle on a firm foundation instead of shifting sand - changed by every wave.
Now that we are officially in Q4 & embarking on 2024 planning, we would do well to get back to basics and reflect on our firm foundation.
Before clarifying priorities.
Before setting goals.
Before assigning tasks.
Are you building your business on solid ground?
