Study finds Ahiflower® Oil works as well as fish oil for joint health. New research in the European Journal of Nutrition has published results finding that Ahiflower oil has comparable anti-inflammatory efficacy as fish oil for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) symptoms at the same low daily intakes. Key findings: • Ahiflower-fed mice showed a 51% reduction in ankle thickness, similar to fish oil-fed mice. • Both oils led to significantly lower levels of harmful platelet-derived microvesicles (PMVs). • Ahiflower oil resulted in lower pro-inflammatory cytokine levels compared to fish oil. These results are highly relevant to millions of people, especially those involved in sports and active lifestyles. Reducing PMVs in synovial fluid may decrease joint swelling and may speed up post-exercise recovery. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gS2GW2bh. #Ahiflower #BeyondFishOil #FishFree #PlantBased #Omegas

https://lnkd.in/gVc-Wusi Article Title: Drinking Milk Behavior and Bone Health among the Elderly Author: Xianglong Xu* Journal: Journal of Food Science and Nutrition Therapy Journal ISSN: 2641-3043 Editorial: WHO report that in 2002 there were an estimated 605 million older persons in the world, nearly 400 million of whom were living in low-income countries, by 2025, the number of older persons worldwide is expected to reach more than 1.2 billion, with about 840 million of those in low-income countries [1]. WHO report that worldwide estimates are that 9.6% of men and 18.0% of women aged over 60 years have symptomatic osteoarthritis? 80% of those with osteoarthritis will have limitations in movement, and 25% cannot perform their major daily activities of life [2]. With the accelerating aging process, incidence of osteoporosis is increasing rapidly. #Milk #BoneHealth #FoodSafetyHygiene #ClinicalNutritionPractice #FoodMicrobiology #NutritionFoodHealth #FoodPreservation #FoodProcessingTechnology #FoodEngineering #NutritionalEpidemiology #ProductDevelopment #Production #SensoryAnalysis #FoodChemistry #MolecularGastronomy #FoodPackaging #FoodPhysics #FoodPhysicalChemistry #BalancedEating #DangersPoorNutrition #Diabetes #AppetiteFoodIntakeNutritionalStatus #HumanNutrition #DietTherapy #FoodTechnology #GMOFood #MeatScience #FoodHygiene #DietarySurveys #ObesityWeightControl #DietDisease #MacronutrientsMicronutrients #MetabolicSyndrome #MalnutritionChildrenMalnutrition #FoodNutritionalScience #FoodProcessingEngineeringTechnologies #HealthyDiets #ParenteralNutrition #FoodInsecurity #FoodPoisoning #NutritionalDisorders #FoodNutritionDisorders #FoodAnalysis #PersonalisedNutrition #NutritionalAssessment #VitaminsMinerals #FoodAddiction #NutritionTherapies #PoorNutritionalStatus #CommunityNutrition #VitaminDeficiency #NutritionDeficiencyTreatment #FoodIntolerance #DietMetabolicSyndrome #DrugProteinMetabolism #QualityAssuranceControl

New research in the European Journal of Nutrition has published a study finding Ahiflower® oil performed slightly better than fish oil in alleviating symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis in mice. Findings show that Ahiflower oil has comparable and even superior effects vs fish oil in mammals on the management of joint inflammation and swelling. It supports Ahiflower oil’s supplemental use in humans and companion animals who are seeking better overall mobility and less joint swelling. This study highlights the potential benefits of Ahiflower oil in managing joint inflammation and improving mobility, offering a sustainable alternative to fish oil. Excited to share that on July 14, 2023 (just the day before my birthday), one of my latest papers, co-authored with my advisor, was accepted, and published on July 18, 2023. This publication highlights a significant step in understanding the complex interplay between diet, the gut microbiome, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in infants. In this narrative review, we delve into how the infant gut microbiome and resistome interact with infant nutrition. Our findings highlight the potential of diet to mitigate the carriage of ARGs in infants and toddlers, a crucial aspect of maintaining antibiotic efficacy and safeguarding the health of our youngest population. AMR is ubiquitous and the growing crisis of AMR is a global public health concern that has drawn attention of people from different walks of life and expertise/specialization. Through this research, we aim to contribute valuable insights into how dietary interventions might play a role in combating this “monster” called AMR, especially in the early stages of life. I am grateful to God and for the support of my mentor in preparing this paper for publication. For anyone interested in the intersection of microbiology, nutrition, and public health, I invite you to read and share your thoughts on this work. Your feedback and discussions are immensely valuable. https://lnkd.in/esSNgPAv #AntimicrobialResistance #GutMicrobiome #InfantNutrition #PublicHealth #ResearchPublication #Scientificresearch

Starting off the year with our most recent publication in the Journal of Dairy Science #JDS testing the effects of dietary rumen-protected #choline (#RPC) in the #transition period of #dairy cows. Beyond exploring and showing some of the positive effects of dietary RPC supplementation on lactation performance, energy metabolism, and immunity of transition cows, we also tested its effects on improving uterine health - a major problem in this period. Here, we found that cows receiving dietary RPC supplementation had a #lower abundance of the genus #Fusobacterium in their vaginal discharge microbiome, used here as a proxy to the uterus. This genus is highly associated with #Metritis, which is a major uterine disease. Thus, our study shows that supplementing dietary RPC to transition cows may have the potential to also improve their uterine health. Other interesting findings can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/eMht-qus This is one example of how a #bioactive metabolite can improve the production, reproduction, and health of cows. In this study, #choline is protected to almost inhibit the degradation by the rumen microbiome, which degrades and produces hundreds of metabolites. Now, think about the fact that we are finding more and more that, among those hundreds of metabolites, there are several already classified as bioactive in other species or other GIT compartments. Isn't it time we explored their potential impact, akin to what we've done with choline in dairy cows? The possibility of protecting these metabolites or modulating them through diet is something I just can't stop thinking about. Exciting times! *Special credits to Thaisa Marques for leading the study and partnering in these analyses, Fabio Lima, Kemin Industries, and many others for the great collaboration! #nutrition #microbiome #metabolomics #multiomics #uterinediseases #uterinehealth #dietarysupplements #cows 🐄 🔬 👨💻
