Relational outdoor learning may benefit all students, but for neurodivergent students (autism/AD(H)D) it seems especially helpful. WUR BSc student Forest & Nature Conservation Duncan van den Hatert studied the experiences of neurodivergent students in relational outdoor learning compared to regular education. The results show that the problems these students face in regular education are practically non-existent in relational outdoor learning courses due to both the natural environment and the relational approach. Implementing more aspects of relational outdoor learning into regular education could thus be a way towards more neuro-inclusive education.
