Portugal: the 6th most attractive country for foreign investment in Europe. In 2022, it set a record for the number of FDI projects and experienced the highest growth in the number of projects in Europe. According to EY's annual Attractiveness Survey 2023, based on an inquiry to investors from various nationalities and continents, the factors contributing most to this attractiveness are: Quality of life Social stability Telecommunications and infrastructure The preferred sectors for investment are software and IT services and business and professional services. Germany and the US are the leading investors, with Lisbon and Porto hosting the majority of all projects. Additionally, Porto ranks first in the Financial Times' "FDI Strategy – Large Cities." It's worth noting that real estate is a significant area of investment. It spans various sectors, from pure real estate investment by international developers in residential and hospitality sectors to driving business in office and logistics properties. Real estate investment in Portugal, as analyzed by CBRE, reached nearly 500 billion Euros in the first half of the year, with 84% coming from foreign sources. Considering an investment in Portugal? It's official, #France has been the European attractiveness undisputed Champion for 5 years in a row ahead of UK and Germany! Many thanks to the US companies, by far the largest investors in France with 305 projects in 2023 alone, for their commitment and to the Canadian ones for their renewed confidence in the French economy. This year Portugal celebrates a decade since the expiration of the financial assistance program provided by the EU and IMF.
