Each year, The Citadel hosts a Leadership Day for all university students. This time, Brian T. King and Andre Harris were featured speakers at the popular event. They spoke with students about their career paths, the history of A M King, unsolicited career advice, and ethics in construction. #DesignBuildBetter

Look Out Above!' is our answer to a glaring gap in both academic and corporate training. We wrote this book because we saw first hand that success in the real world is about more than what you learned in class. It's about mastering the art of contribution, communication, leadership, and advocacy in ways that matter at work.

Read our past report, Implementing Systemwide Changes in the CSU, authored by Thad Nodine and Robert Gabriner. This report found that the Academy served as a catalyst in helping campus teams address resistance and take advantage of opportunities for substantive change through leadership, communications, and networking. As a result, the Academy appears to be well positioned, with additional supports and resources, to facilitate and deepen campus efforts to address long-standing issues such as equity. How did each of us get to this place in our leadership? By the grace of someone else. - Someone poured into us.  - Someone hired us when we weren’t fully qualified.  - Someone corrected our mistakes (vs. washing their hands of us). - Someone spent time teaching us. The new “Implementing the BILT Model of Business Engagement” PDF (37 pages) provides a step-by-step overview of how to successfully convene a Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT). Sections include explaining the benefits of a BILT, recruiting employers to join a BILT, hosting the annual job skills vote meeting, and addressing common implementation challenges. THis document was developed by combining together into one place both internal staff process documents and also formal conference presentations. #BILTwednesday https://lnkd.in/dRi4qZub
