📚 Recap of ACR Conference's Early Career Workshop! 📚 At this year’s ACR conference in Seattle (October 26-28), our post-doc Dr. Janina Garbas had the great opportunity to attend the Early Career Workshop. The workshop included two engaging panel discussions and insightful roundtable Q&A sessions with experienced scholars and was an invaluable experience. 🔍 Panel 1 focused on illuminating the tenure process and fostering academic growth, offering essential insights for navigating an academic career successfully. 💭 The roundtable discussions provided a platform to delve into research, teaching, reviewing, and service to the discipline. The shared advice was incredibly relevant and eye-opening. 🔍 Equally engaging, Panel 2 addressed both timeless challenges and emerging issues within the tenure process, providing a comprehensive understanding of hurdles and opportunities in academia. The contributions from all panelists and roundtable scholars were remarkably pertinent, expanding the perspective on academic growth and the tenure process. Personal advice from Janina: Whenever there’s a chance to attend early career workshops, seize it! They offer a rich experience and a great opportunity to connect with both senior and other junior scholars. Many thanks to the ACR conference organizers, the organizers of the early career workshop, and all participating scholars for such an enriching experience. #ACR2023Conference #EarlyCareerWorkshop #AcademicInsights #TenureProcess

I am honored that I got invited to speak about my experiences with the MSCA post-doctoral fellowships and the road to a successful application! Don't expect unicorns and rainbows (i.e., magic solutions to receiving funding)! Instead, you'll get my experiences and a real-life take on how I have navigated (and still navigate) the challenges (and successes!!) of the funding landscape in academia... Some things I hope to highlight: where to start, how to identify collaborators (PIs), where to get help, how to deal with reviews, etc. But also, please bring all your great questions!
