Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV) associated disorders (KAD) are associated with activation of innate immune processes that cause detrimental inflammation in people with KAD and #HIV, a #NIAID study found. KAD include Kaposi sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma, KSHV-associated multicentric Castleman disease, and KSHV-inflammatory cytokine syndrome. KAD tend to affect people whose immune systems are suppressed. The findings may inform novel treatments for this complex group of disorders. 11 clinical trials that will shape medicine in 2024: Nature Medicine asked leading researchers to name their top clinical trial for 2024, from base editing and a vaccine against HIV to artificial intelligence tools for lung cancer and patient triage. https://lnkd.in/ewugcbMQ Which one are you most excited about? 💡 It has to be Enhertu for me; a Her2-ADC that made us all think twice when it was shown to work in Her2-low breast cancer patients. We need to do more to make sure that all patients who can benefit are eligible for #targetedtherapy → biomarkers of response need to be looked at in the early #drugdevelopment / #preclinicalresearch settings!

For sickle cell disease, cardiac disorders, HIV, cancer, neurodegeneration, diabetes and fibrosis (e.g., cystic fibrosis) : VincoAI, successfully generated a 7mer peptide, VHDAC-46-7MEROL, that targets the active site of HDAC3 by computational peptide-protein docking simulations. Although these in-silico results support VincoAI peptide potential as HDAC3 blocker, in vitro and in vivo validation is still needed. #sicklecelldisease #hdac #ai #vincoai #vincogen #fibrosis #cysticfibrosis #hiv #diabetes #neurodegeneration #cancer

What is Flow Cytometry? Understanding the Importance of Flow Cytometry: Flow cytometry is a high sensitivity laboratory technique that plays a crucial role in diagnosing and staging leukemias and lymphomas, and for monitoring the treatment progress of cancer patients. Flow is also critical for monitoring infectious diseases (like HIV) and auto-immune disorders (like Lupus).
