We presented our latest progress on AI model development for Philips' point-of-care lung Ultrasound at ICCV CVAMD23 earlier this month. Kudos to my great teammates Li Chen, Mohsen Zahiri, and Alvin Chen, and many thanks to the funding organizations of this work - Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).
Our experimental findings demonstrate that:
(1) With only a small amount of additional frame-annotated data, we achieve state-of-the-art (SOTA) detection and classification of lung consolidation and pleural effusion
(2) On the detection task, our approach outperforms comparable framebased detectors trained without the added temporal context
(3) On the video classification task, our method outperforms direct video classifiers as well as the SOTA detectorbased methods, while still providing the interpretability of detector-based methods.
(4) We note that the proposed framework is modular and interchangeable; alternative detection, tracking, and classification methods may be introduced to meet specific data and task requirements.

Examples of lung consolidation correctly classified by FSCNet (proposed) but not from detections (orange boxes with confidence in orange). The ground truth boxes are labeled in white. The FSCNet classification probabilities for the tracklets are shown in green.
ECGenius 3.1 improves workflow and streamlines processes to help EPs
integrate #AI analyses into the EP lab.
The release of ECGenius 3.1 follows the Q3 2023 launch of the PVI Analyzer and Signal Complexity algorithms. These algorithms are part of the CARDIALYTICS suite of artificial intelligence-powered analytics integrated into the ECGenius System, making it the only EP recording system with an AI algorithm to facilitate electrogram interpretation and deliver unprecedented levels of intelligent, automated analyses designed to help physicians improve ablation outcomes in complex atrial arrhythmia procedures by measuring the success of cardiac ablation.

ECGenius System, PVI Analyzer, and Signal Complexity are cleared for sale in the US. Not approved for sale in the rest of the world.
Eagerly looking forward to this workshop. Academia and industry together! We will discuss about the role of digital technologies in cardiovascular imaging.

Impressive overview of AI in medicine by Dr. Eric Topol as keynote speaker at today's opening ceremony of the American College of Physicians meeting in Boston. In multiple randomized clinical trials, AI has improved diagnostic accuracy in mammography, radiography, colonoscopy, cardiac imaging, and more.
One of my takeaways is that it may even be possible, in the not-too-distant future, for AI to reduce the need for invasive diagnostic testing in certain areas.
