General Manager at Naked Wines UK

Did you know that just 3.5% of equity investment goes to female-founded startups? The start-up / scale-up world is tough, and even tougher if you’re female. It’s infuriating. That hasn’t stopped these trailblazers: 1. Jodie Teare. Founder of Lullaloop. Created the perfect solution to one of my personal and biggest parental guilts - what to do with outgrown children's clothes. A beautiful and practical bundle of clothes to rent for a few months, to switch up to the next size and new designs when they get too small. Simple, effective, genius. 2. Lydia Gregory. Founder of Figaro.ai. Took her passion for music and combined it with AI (before we had ever heard of it) to create an intuitive search engine for music. 3. Laura Riches and Laura Rosenberger. Co-founders of Laylo. Ex-Naked staffers. They’ve taken all they know and love about the wine world, and channelled it into everything boxed. If Laylo is good enough for Downing Street… 4. Alexandra Rico-Lloyd. Founder of Bike Club. Another business model that makes so much sense you wonder why it hadn’t been done before. Subscription bikes for kids. Reducing waste AND reducing parent spend. Of course it’s flying. 5. Ellie Hunt. Founder of @hawksburyhuntflowers. Established her own wildly successful flower farm whilst raising two kids under three. A true force of nature. Some of these are friends, some are people I admire from afar, but all are inspirational. If you do one thing today, support a female founded business. It’s tough out there. They need you #internationalwomensday #equityfundinggap
