A very strong analysis of the current legislations surrounding the Student Visa policy changes in Australia.

Very well put forward views of The Group of Eight by Vicki Thomson. Putting a cap on international students and that too going back to the year 2019 is not a correct approach. Education is Australia's third largest export and there needs to be a good debate on what can and can't be done. This sector contributes significantly to the GDP. The housing and rental crisis is not fully attributable to International Students. Can you imagine the impact on the hospitality industry and growing inflation if international students are curbed? We have very well seen that during Covid -19.

On Wednesday, there was a conference with the Minister of Education, Mr. Lisoviy. I managed to ask the question that interested me. I asked about the amendments to the parameters of the National Multitest, which in my opinion will only harm the youth, demotivating them from pursuing higher education. During times of war, the focus should always be on the future. The future, in turn, is being built right now! #iir #internationallaw

I have just published a new paper (with Alison Jefferson) on "Federalism and the complexities of higher education governance" in the new Handbook of Higher Education Governance and Management edited by Alberto Amaral and António Magalhães. Alison and I discuss some of the distinctive elements of governance within federal systems, such as: multiple forms (and levels) of legal foundation and regulatory authority, multi-issue, multi-level governance; and issues of language, especially within multination federalism.
