Brooke’s Toy Closet is a program at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional and TidalHealth Nanticoke that provides new toys to children in the Emergency Departments and Pediatric Units that the children get to keep and take home upon discharge. The program was named in honor of Brooke Mulford, a young girl who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer, in 2009 at the tender age of 4 years old. After a valiant battle, she passed away in June 2017. Brooke had a vision to give toys to kids in the hospital to make their time there a little easier, and that vision is what sparked the creation of Brooke's Toy Closet. Both of our toy closets are in dire need of toys. To learn how you can donate or purchase directly from our Amazon wishlist, visit tidalhealth.org/toycloset. You can also help by sharing this post and spreading the word about this program. Thank you!

ANDMORE World Market Centers in Las Vegas is fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On September 23, we will be walking/running/raising awareness for the great work that they do each day. If you would like to donate then know this will make a difference! https://lnkd.in/gk8w72XY ________________________________________ Because the majority of St. Jude funding comes from generous donors, St. Jude has the freedom to focus on what matters most — saving kids regardless of their financial situation. Every dollar makes a difference. • $5 Could help provide 167 pediatric bandages for children during hospital visits. • $10 Could help provide 48 infant diapers to babies undergoing treatment. • $25 Help provide a St. Jude family with meals for one day in the Kay Kafe, the St. Jude cafeteria. • $57 Could help provide 14 thermometers for doctors to use at patients appointments. • $100 Could help to provide one red wagon. • $250 Could help to provide 10 days of meals for one parent or family member. • $500 Could help to provide 42 platelet count tests. During chemotherapy, the platelet count of patients can drop to dangerously low levels so platelet transfusions are essential for treatment. • $606 Could help cover the cost of two days of oxygen for a St. Jude patient. During treatment, St. Jude patients may need oxygen to help their bodies function properly and aid in healing. • $1,722 Could help cover 1 day of chemotherapy administered intravenously to leukemia or solid tumor patients. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancers from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.

I'm raising money to support the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by participating in the St. Jude Walk/Run 2023. You can help me support the kids of St. Jude by donating today! Every dollar counts! https://lnkd.in/etTmdyZj -St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. -St. Jude is where doctors send their toughest cases because we have the best world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers. -82 cents of EVERY dollar go straight to research/treatment (the other 18% supports fundraising and administrative costs) -Regardless of the duration or the cost of care, families never receive a bill from St. Jude -July 13, 2022 marked the beginning of the largest strategic investment in our 60-year history. The Six-Year St. Jude Strategic Plan commits $12.9 billion to focus on the expansion of patient care and clinical and laboratory-based research related to pediatric catastrophic illnesses, including work in cancer, blood disorders, neurological diseases, and infectious diseases. The plan calls for an additional 2,300 jobs; the expenditure of $2.3 billion in new construction, renovation, and capital needs; and the development of new research areas.

I have gained a completely new perspective since meeting Kathleen Quintas. Trust me, if you speak to her, she will open your eyes to one of the biggest needs of families with children battling cancer that is rarely discussed - the need for support. I think we all inherently agree that comprehensive services and support would be a positive thing for families, so ….. what could Kathleen Quintas possibly tell you to change your perspective ….. since you agree with the mission of Here to Serve, Inc. already?? How about the fact that: 1) 15,000 kids were diagnosed with cancer last year and 2) Only 0.001% of billions of dollars in pediatric cancer funding went directly toward supporting families? How about another perspective - if you're contemplating a donation towards a cancer-focused cause - to develop a successful cancer therapy it was recently estimated to take: 1) 10-15 years 2) $1.3 BILLION From now until the end of 2023, Here to Serve, Inc. is working to: 1) raise $30,000, which 2) will allow us to bring on another care coordinator 3) to support up 40 additional families in 2024. Doing some quick math, to develop a new cancer drug: 1) Our $30,000 goal would be spent within the first 2 hours of a 10-year journey, and 2) A single donation of $6,000 would be gone in ~25 min after everyone checked their emails in the lab! Alternatively, at Here to Serve, Inc. ….. 1) Our $30K target will immediately help 40 families next year, and 2) A single donation of $6K can directly help 8 families next year 3) A donation of $750 can help bring on an additional family next year If you’re interested in speaking to Kathleen Quintas to learn more, to get involved (volunteers needed), or you just want to get inspired by one of the most passionate and dedicated people you’ll ever meet, reach out to Kathleen Quintas or me ….. If you’re genuinely interested in supporting a proven, tested, predictably effective option for children and families battling cancer, that can be combined with every other intervention, I promise you will be glad you spoke to her. There are too many families with children navigating cancer alone. This holiday season, you can help us change that. 🙏 Last year, over 15,000 children were diagnosed with pediatric cancer, but only .001% of funding goes directly toward supporting families going through this harrowing experience. Here To Serve is the only national organization that provides comprehensive services and support to these families through our dedicated family care coordinators. From Giving Tuesday through the end of 2023 we’re working to raise $30,000, which will allow us to bring on another care coordinator to support up 40 additional families in 2024. There are too many families who are shouldering the burden of pediatric cancer alone. Donate now to help more families focus on what matters most – caring for their loved ones. 💛 💙 Donate Now: https://lnkd.in/gac33X5b #holidayfundraiser #yearendgiving

https://lnkd.in/g3eDWsVm As I lace up my shoes and hit the pavement, each step feels purposeful, carrying the weight of the children and families fighting against childhood cancer. With every breath, I'm reminded of the bigger reason driving me forward the kids and their families who need our support. Training to cross that finish line on race day isn't just about personal achievement; it's about reaching that finish line together because, with your help, we can make a difference in the lives of those battling this disease. Here's something worth knowing: Families at St. Jude never receive a bill. Treatment, travel, housing, food none of it comes with a financial burden. Why? Because when a child is fighting for their life, their family should only have to focus on being there, holding onto hope and love. But here's the reality check: Childhood cancer still takes too many lives. In the U.S. alone, about 15,590 children under 19 years old are diagnosed with cancer each year. And despite improvements in survival rates, around 1,790 children still lose their lives to cancer annually in the U.S. However, there's hope shining through the darkness. Thanks to groundbreaking research and treatment at St. Jude, survival rates have soared from 20% to over 80% in just 50 years. Every day, dedicated researchers are making progress, getting us closer to a future where no child has to endure the pain of cancer. But there's more work to do. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer. And every breakthrough they achieve is shared freely, giving hope to countless others. Your donation isn't just a number; it's a lifeline. It's hope for those who need it most. So, join me in this fight. Together, let's ensure that even after the race is over, our fight against childhood cancer continues. Let's turn despair into joy, and fear into triumphs. Together, we can truly make a difference.
