We’re excited to welcome Patagonia back for their fourth year as a sponsor of the Omek Summit ✨ When we surveyed our community to find out which values were considered most important, the most common responses included community investment, environmental sustainability, and racial justice. These all align closely with Patagonia’s values as a brand. Our continued partnership enables us to engage in authentic community engagement based on shared values, representing a mutual benefit for both Patagonia and Omek. By joining us once again, Patagonia is demonstrating its dedication to driving positive social impact while positioning its brand as an employer of choice for the Omek community 🌳 Join us at the Summit on Friday to meet the Patagonia team, learn about what it’s like to work there, and get insight into their mission as a brand.

When you “sell” a vision and mission like Patagonia does AND their actions line up from top to bottom and sideways which includes admitting its “failures”- that’s integrity - that’s values-based living. Money is a byproduct…. Follow this company to see a nearly perfect Performance management system aligned vertically and horizontally with Organization and Human Resource strategy. #foreveracustomer #foreverafan

One of the best examples of how users changed the consumer market is straws. Companies saw the demand for environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic straws, and they pivoted in response. Good companies treat their people and the planet with respect. We need to celebrate companies like Patagonia and focus our energy there, so that we as consumers can create a culture shift to how companies operate.

Businesses need to realize that valuing employee happiness through a human-centric approach leads to better retention, brand loyalty, and workplace satisfaction. You have to be very naive to think you can build a community without a purpose or objective and still have people chomping at the bit to join. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t work. A lack of purpose is why a lot of communities fail to take off. When building a community, you have to be clear on: - Why you are doing it - What people get out of it Without these, you might as well not bother 🤷♀️ It sounds harsh, but it’s the truth. It’s no use just picking something you enjoy. There has to be an end goal to bring people together and keep them engaged. Patagonia are the master of this and a great example. Their mission is to one day save the planet. It’s a big goal. But it works. Because there are millions of people around the world who share this vision/goal. And that’s why Patagonia’s community is one of the best. Can you see what I mean? It’s a lot more than “We like rock climbing”, which would be nowhere near as effective. Communities that have a purpose succeed. And this is proof. Bravo, Patagonia 👏 Need help finding your purpose and objective to drive your community? 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭! Or as Vanessa Rueber referred to the campaign by Patagonia: “Don’t buy this jacket!”. Referring to a campaign that went wrong where Patagonia accidentally sold a lot of jackets. Now that you’re reading this post, you’re actually imperfect too, ignoring the headline. And when it comes to acting sustainably, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵. However, 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬, both professionally and personally. Yesterday, Vanessa shared her personal story of what drives her working for Patagonia Swiss AG and Protect Our Winters Switzerland. One of the things that that touched me was her story about how her kids look at the beauty of the mountains and are ignorant, thinking that someone is taking care of the preservation of the beauty of nature. Through her work, she started to care more and more about protecting our home planet. According Patagonias mission statement: “𝒘𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕”. You don’t have to be fully there already but positive change is a process you have to make space for. I loved how she shared that the dandelion plant (the one you blow to make a wish) is a symbol of hope for her. When you or the wind blows it, the seeds spread everywhere, exponentially. We cannot stop it. Clara Gulde, Holger Sigmund and myself are trying to achieve the same with the 𝑪𝒍𝒖𝒃 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆, where we are making a positive impact by creating space for positive change. Everyone is welcome to join our platform and we host monthly free (online) sessions (change practice). If you’re interested in what we’re doing, feel free to reach out! You're not too late, we're just getting started :) And make sure to check out what Patagonia and Protect Our Winters are doing. Very inspiring to say the least.
