Wayward boat anchors, natural disasters, and malicious actors can damage or destroy the subsea optical cables that deliver critical communications and connectivity around the globe. Excellent analysis. Yes, you are absolutely right. Cutting the fiber optic cables under the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, not from one place but from many distant points, can make repairs impossible. Or, they can be cut repeatedly, like slicing leeks, by the underwater vehicle that cuts the cables. There may be no internet for months. For this reason, commercial domain websites, sectors such as public and banking should be able to be directed to satellite communication during a second-long data outage. In this way, terabytes (Tbps) of data cannot be transmitted per second, but a few Gigabytes (Gbps) of data traffic can be possible. A nice brain exercise. In this period when people are addicted to social media, will such an event cause millions of young people in all countries to lose their mental health? I don't know.
