Is being a democracy HURTING India?? Democracy is an ideal for elitist developed economies, with word leading technological innovations and a population with high per capita income. These are the type of countries which can afford to spend time, money and human effort on topics such as equality of outcome, climate change, uplifting the downtrodden. For a country like India, the best way to go forward would be under the unquestioned leadership of strong, educated and motivated individuals who can get the country to reach levels of income security and wealth for everybody, ensuring jobs and building important industries. You cannot expect a leader to build a country when all of their well informed decisions are under scrutiny by people who want to raise a voice just to bring them down. And the same way You cannot expect a citizen to be ideal and vote for a democracy and participate well in it when they are just struggling to put food on the table
