Pitching logic is hard.
Pitches really scare me. Every time I do it, it is a moment of truth. Am I right? What will I do if I am not? I recently visited the IHFF exhibition in Delhi. A meet for bodybuilders and gym enthusiasts to understand the pain points for these people. Do they even care for what I am building? Turns out, yes and no. Barefoot shoes are defined by many features - wide toe box, flat sole, thin sole, flexible, breathable. Most people who go to the gym, only cared about two things, flat sole and the wide toe box. Now I know what my pitch should be to this customer. Of course I messed up quite a lot initially when making my pitches. Forgot features, said stuff that wasn't exactly right, or fumbled. But the learnings were all worth it. Btw. Another thing I learnt is that people don't really care about barefoot shoes until they are really not happy with their regular shoes. That will be my biggest challenge, despite them clearly being the better and sensible choice. I mean, shoes made in the shape of your foot. How is that not preferred over shoes which are not? Setting targets for your team is the easy part, getting them to hit them is the hard part. If you want to hit your salon goals then you need to get your team to hit theirs first. Set a salon goal Divide that goal between your team Let your team know their individual targets (min 3x wage) Show them the gap between where they are now and where they need to be Help them reach their goals Encourage them by tracking daily how close they are to hitting their targets. Something I'm incredibly grateful for in the #hospitality and #vacationrental spaces is that I've had the opportunity to work with literally 100's of different brands and businesses. That includes working with property managers with over 1,000 properties under management as well as individuals who are still trying to select a name for their upcoming venture. And a whole lot in-between. When I read the draft of Conrad's book, what stood out to me most was the fact that he had already identified these differences in needs at each level (in his book he compares them to boxing weight classes) and identified the items that business needed to have in place to "move up" to the next weight class.
