By specifying lightweight, breathable FR garments, workers can stay focused on the task at hand without getting distracted by how uncomfortable they are. If workers are comfortable in their workwear, they’ll be less likely to make life-threatening mistakes such as rolling up their sleeves or unbuttoning their collars. Hi vis workwear is designed to keep you safe at work, but it can only do its job if it is properly worn, cared for and maintained in good condition. Genuine hi vis workwear conforms to the international standard EN ISO 20471:2013, which sets out the minimum amount of fluorescent and retro-reflective material it must contain. The standard also stipulates where those materials must be placed for maximum visibility, based on scientific research into how humans react – consciously and subconsciously – to what they see. However, in order to be effective, hi vis workwear must be worn as intended when it was designed. In practical terms, this means following a few simple rules: Find out what these rules are and how to ensure hi vis workwear is being used and cared for correctly in your workplace here: https://hubs.la/Q025gqwJ0 #raisingthebar #workplacesafety

What's wrong with this picture? We'll give you a few guesses, but if you work in cold environments, you may need to look at thermally protective clothing. In particular, layering up your garments to trap more air and provide a more functional and comfortable experience. It's not just outdoor workers that will need to wrap up warm – people working in large operational spaces and office-based staff may need additional work clothing to keep them warm. Layering your workwear and PPE may be more cost-effective than space heaters and standard heating, especially with rising energy prices. BHI can help guide you to select the right products for your requirements in a Simple, Easy & Effective way. But these are just words, and words are easy - it's our actions that speak louder. What's wrong with this picture? This is a trick question – it's more of a What can go wrong with this picture? A metaphor, if you will. This a snap-off knife or "#boxcutter" – the retractable action allows for "safety", and each segment can be snapped off to reveal a "fresh" cutting edge to continue to cut. This means, in theory, the cutting capability should last longer than a traditional "Stanley knife" type blade. It's a tool, and a tool can be both useful and also dangerous. Handled correctly, they can create and build. Handled poorly and without understanding, they can damage and destroy. #PPE and #workwear are tools; they can also build or damage people and businesses. How they are handled and sourced is critical. This isn't a metaphor for picking up some decent gloves to stop your workers from slicing open their hands. It applies to all protective equipment and clothing. The right tools can improve productivity, protection, functionality, durability and add value at a time essential to companies up and down the UK. How you buy these tools will undoubtedly indicate if that's likely or not. Do you buy to save on price, or do you buy to deliver cost savings? And yes, there is a major difference! Would you like to see how that difference will work for your company? Look, these are just words, and words are easy - it's our actions that speak louder. Reflective workwear is a beacon of safety on a jobsite. As it ages and gets exposed to the elements, however, its reflective properties can diminish. Here's what you can do to make sure your reflective workwear is keeping you safe: 1. Inspect Regularly: Take a moment to inspect your reflective gear for signs of wear, dirt, or damage. These can affect visibility. 2. Clean and Maintain: Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and maintenance. Proper care can extend the life of your reflective clothing. 3. Replace When Necessary: If your reflective gear is no longer doing its job, it's time for a replacement. Your safety is worth it. By making sure that our reflective workwear remains reflective, we ensure that we stay visible and safe, even in challenging conditions. Let's shine bright and stay safe out there! #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety #JobSiteSafety
