Did you know that according to the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), the HIV infection rate in mainland Tanzania is 4.7% of the total population? Among the groups with the highest infection rates are people who inject drugs, men who have sex with men, and notably, women, with an infection rate of 6.3% compared to 3.9% in men. Even more concerning is that young women aged 20-24 have the highest infection rate at 4.4% compared to 1.7% in young men of the same age group. #HIVAIDS #TanzaniaHealth #NACP #HIVAwareness #PublicHealth #YouthHealth #WomenHealth #EndHIVAIDS

#NCDs undermine broader #health and wellbeing. #NCDs have a negative impact on health as diseases in their own right and also in the way that they interact with other conditions. They can leave people significantly more vulnerable to other health issues. Addressing #NCDs can therefore help protect populations from severe outcomes from other diseases such as HIV, TB or COVID-19. #NCDs #BeatNCDs

Areas with severe poverty often face the problem of illiteracy, Poverty totally hinders access to better health care, preventive measures and counselling services. Hence, poverty has a direct correlation with HIV infection. Education is much needed to help provide accurate understanding about HIV/AIDS and preventive measures, thereby reducing the risk of infection and achieving eradication goals by 2030. #AcessToOpportunity

Trans men have a higher risk of getting HIV than the general population, but they are often left out of HIV research, data, and services. This needs to change. Trans men face multiple barriers to HIV prevention and care, such as stigma, discrimination, violence, and lack of access. We need to address these structural factors and ensure that trans men have a voice and a choice in the HIV response. #TransMenAndHIV
According to a global analysis published in 2022, trans men have nearly 7 times the odds of having HIV compared to the general population. Trans men have a higher risk of getting HIV than the general population, but there is not enough data to know the exact prevalence in different regions and countries.
