We have expanded our Center for Post-COVID Care—the first and largest center of its kind—to another location to better serve patients in East Harlem and the South Bronx. The new site will help meet the needs of a growing number of patients with long-term symptoms from COVID-19 needing access to world-leading care. It will also enhance long COVID care for minority populations living in underserved communities who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, but underdiagnosed with long COVID. The new location is at Mount Sinai-Internal Medicine Associates at 17 East 102nd Street. Read more: https://mshs.co/3zypLlx #WeFindAWay

Small steps bring us closer to success. Change is happening. The American Heart Association removed race from a commonly used heart disease risk calculation. OBGYNs are no longer including race as a risk factor when determining if a pregnant woman should attempt a vaginal birth after a C-section. The American Thoracic Society is urging physicians to replace race-based lung function evaluations. Every stride we make in reforming the #healthcare system brings us one step closer to achieving health equity for all. Let’s celebrate these victories, no matter how small, as they demonstrate progress towards more inclusive healthcare delivery. Join KC Health Collaborative as we collaborate with community partners to dismantle racial biases in healthcare and ensure equitable access to healthcare for all. Let’s get to work. ** Follow KC Health Collaborative to stay up-to-date about our efforts in fostering health equity and community connections in the Kansas City region. #healthequity #kansascity

🩸 Today, on World Hemophilia Day, let's raise awareness and advocate for equitable access to healthcare for individuals with bleeding disorders around the globe! The theme for this year, "Equitable access for all: recognizing all bleeding disorders," reminds us of the importance of inclusivity and support for everyone affected by these conditions. Hence it is important to invest in: 1. Awareness and Education: Increasing awareness about hemophilia and other bleeding disorders is crucial for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. 2. Improve the Access to Treatment: Ensuring equitable access to treatment and care empowers individuals with bleeding disorders to lead fulfilling lives and contributes to a healthier society. 3. Support Networks: Building strong support networks and communities is vital in providing emotional, social, and practical support to those living with these conditions and their caregivers. 4. Advocacy and Collaboration: Advocating for policies that prioritize access to affordable and quality healthcare is essential. Collaboration between healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, and policymakers can drive positive change. Let's come together to support individuals with bleeding disorders, promote understanding, and work towards a world where everyone has access to care they need. #WorldHemophiliaDay #EquitableAccess #HealthcareForAll #IAPHL #Awareness #HealthAdvocacy

Since the addition of #noma to the list of #NTDs, we have stepped up our #awareness and case search in localities where children are at risk. This has led to increase in noma patients we see at the different stages of this disease. Whereas there are variations in the number of cases for all the weeks, we have had an average of one case per week since last quarter of 2023. Each #NomaAlert we see gives us the impetus to go in further search seeing that we have #partners that offer comprehensive care for every cases we refer. 🤝 Today, Life for Lyme, a division of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce's Health & Medical Alliance, had the privilege of meeting with NYC Council Member Lynn Schulman, Chair of the NYC Committee on Health. As Chair, Council Member Schulman oversees crucial departments such as the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner within New York City. We were delighted to have this opportunity to discuss collaboration in assisting individuals battling Lyme disease and Tick Born infections. By coming together, we can leverage our resources, expertise, and community networks to offer comprehensive support and advocacy to those affected. Our shared commitment to public health makes this collaboration all the more promising. Throughout this journey, we intend to raise awareness about Lyme disease and Tick Born infections, which pose significant challenges to many individuals. These conditions often remain undiagnosed or insufficiently treated, leading to long-term health implications. By promoting education, early detection, and access to appropriate treatment, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those impacted. We are excited to embark on this joint venture with Council Member Schulman and her esteemed colleagues. Together, we can strengthen and expand resources, enhance research, and advocate for better healthcare solutions in the fight against Lyme disease and Tick Born infections. #LymeDisease #TickBornInfections #PublicHealth #Collaboration #HealthcareAdvocacy

Important post here from Doina Ionescu raising awareness for MS. Do check out the details in the article links below 👇 #ms #awareness
In case you missed it, over the past week or so in honour of World MS Day we have been using our expertise and our links to drive some fantastic awareness of MS for patients. We were thrilled to have the support of Prof Klaus Schmierer a leading MS consultant and two patients who had late onset MS, who shared their experiences of getting diagnosed and living with MS. In preparing for this, we were thoughtful about the higher rates of MS which occur in Scotland. It was great therefore to have one patient in Glasgow which resulted in some fantastic coverage in BBC Scotland and the Scotsman (link in comments), which not only highlighted these higher rates but gave unique insights about those who were diagnosed later with MS. This is a key focus for us – traditionally diagnosis often occurs for people age 20-40 but we are seeing rising rates of late onset MS, in addition to the majority of existing patients now being in their 50s and 60s according to MS Society figures. This is a patient demographic that doesn’t often get much awareness and resources are scarce, so it was important for our team to try to give this issue a more prominent voice. I am proud that we were able to achieve coverage in BBC London, BBC Scotland, the Scotsman and the Daily Express. Links are in the comments – please share so we can continue to raise awareness for this important patient group! #AsOneForPatients #WorldMSDay #MSpatients #diagnosis #healthcare
