Last night, Monty Directors Laura Lal Sommer Bath and Bill Panourgias had a fabulous evening at Clifford Chance Arcus Pride Art Show “Pride Without Borders”. A night of catching up with old friends and making new ones, all while experiencing a beautifully curated show and speaking with talented artists like Jake Simon (Worimi-Biripi). Thank you, Kelly Byrnes, for the invitation and to the CC team — it was, as always, a beautifully run event. Congrats! #MontyEdge #MontySupport

Half-way through an interview dedicated to digital innovation in art, I found myself noting down Bernadine Bröcker Wieder 's pleasantly old-fashioned (perhaps, just level-headed) advice and Key Points for young gallerists and art entrepreneurs. This is what being in touch with the realities of selling art sounds like: "..." First off: simplify your offering as much as you can, so it’s easy for people to understand. Secondly, keep in mind the slower pace of progress in the art world compared to Silicon Valley; it's a marathon, not a sprint. You’ll need to be able to think long-term and be conscious of your spending. Finally, prioritise building trust and nurturing relationships, as they are fundamental in the art industry and take time to develop. (...) Digital Presence: Building a strong online presence is essential for reaching wider audiences. However, it's not just about being online; it's about standing out with a unique identity, approach and new ways to tell stories. Authenticity and Storytelling: Centering your gallery's mission around a genuine love for art and its stories is crucial. Effective storytelling helps connect audiences with the deeper meaning behind artworks, distinguishing your gallery from others focused solely on trends. Long-Term Vision: Prioritise art with enduring significance over short-term aesthetic appeal. This approach ensures that your gallery's offerings resonate across generations, fostering lasting impact. Constructive Feedback: Surround yourself with honest advisors who can provide valuable insights and feedback. This helps refine your gallery's vision and adapt to changing market dynamics.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Bernadine Bröcker Wieder, CEO at Arcual, and talked to her about her career journey in the #arts, how Arcual came to life, her top 3 art startups and what cultural institutions and art galleries can do to set themselves up for the future. DEIA as Art...a 5 Week Series............................Week 5. John Leguizamo made me smile yesterday evening. Not because he was comedic relief, but because he spoke from his heart during the 2024 Emmys. This was DEI as Art - in Action - on an international platform. The celebrated Colombian American Writer, Actor, Producer and Director created clarity around what DEI means for those who try to bastardize its original intent - and he did it with style. "I'm one of Hollywood's DEI hires...That's right: The D is for diligence, the E is for excellence, the I is for imagination. Everyone in this room tonight has dedicated their lives to diligence, excellence and imagination." About 3 months before this speech, Leguizamo took out a full page ad in the New York Times advocating for more actors of color to be recognized during the Television Academy's Emmy award nomination process. Leguizamo used his privilege as a well-known entertainer to advocate for BIPOC entertainers; many of whom he may never meet or never know. And while so many aspects of this work can feel like climbing an ever-growing mountain, his speech is a reminder that there truly are aspects to this work that are easier than others. Choose to do some things differently. Choose to spend time considering people you might not normally see. Choose to learn more about how you can understand perspectives that are far different from your own. Like Leguizamo wrote in his open letter... "It's Simple!" #CommunityIsNow #DEIA #diversity #equity #inclusion #accessibility #DEI #Art #DEI_Art #DEIAasArt #StopweaponizingDEI #diversityequityinclusion #diversitymatters #equityandinclusion #racialequity

Let's shine a light on the speakers that have agreed to come and share their knowledge and experience in the field of Virtual Production at our vp-days conference. It's only fitting to start with this giant in his field. We all know him, we all love him, but did you know that besides being one of the fines videonauts out there he's also one of the (many) pioneers of the XR/VP workflows? He has a thing or two to say about led volumes, colour spaces, gamuts and networking and you'll want to hear it. If you haven't registered yes, there's still time... https://vp-days.be
'All Things Colour' During our VP-days, Hans Cromheecke, Technical Director of Virtual Innovation Partners takes the time to immerse you in the world of colour space. As a seasoned expert, Hans comes to share his backpack of experience and discuss the importance of colour in virtual film production. Not registered yet? Early bird discount until January 15. www.vp-days.be

Is it possible to break out of the scarcity mentality trap that many museums get into? It is possible. Inspiring, courageous, generous, and bold leaders like Sally Shaw MBE, Director of Firstsite, prove it every day. When you talk to her, as I have done today, it becomes very clear. It is possible to overcome structural constraints by believing in other values such as generosity, unconditional community support, trust in each other, and inviting others to share them. I love Sally's museum-cave concept. Despite the passage of time, human beings remain the same and seek similar things: to connect with others, to feel part of others, to feel respected, valued, and supported. Sally and her team make this possible because, as she says, the more you give, the more you receive and generate. This is how a museum arises from the mentality of the gift and collective generosity. They are changing the museums and the society for the better. https://firstsite.uk/

🎬 The Association of Independent Commercial Producers has outdone themselves with their latest film, portraying Vincent Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo navigating the complex dance of feedback and creative negotiation. The dialogue feels like a direct transcript of those endless email threads, with everyone offering their two cents. "We like it, but can we change everything?" From passive-aggressive diplomacy to focus group insights and influencer input, it's a hilarious glimpse into the world of client feedback. ✨ Aspiring creators, take note: "It's hard to make museum-worthy art. It's even harder to make museum-worthy ads." This video serves as a gentle reminder of the challenges in the creative process. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the film: https://lnkd.in/eCVuzjyq #TheGoodCompany #TGC #MarketingFunFact #VanGogh #FridaKahlo
