Are you a personality hire? That is, employees who were hired for their personality. They boost morale, they’re enthusiastic about the company and simply stated, they have clubhouse presence. (They weren’t necessarily hired just for their technical skills.) According to a recent Monster poll, here are some interesting findings: 📍45% of workers said it’s easier for personality hires to advance due to their relationships with leadership. 📍85% of personality hires and 65% of traditional hires agree that the most valuable attribute of personality hires rely on their strong relationship building skills with clients, customers, and colleagues. 📍Resentment may build, however. Almost 4 in 10 workers feel personality hires receive opportunities and recognition they haven’t worked for and earned. My takeaway: for employers to find the right fit culturally with candidates who will be excellent employees and great connections with the culture and team, yes personality hires are important. If they have abilities and skills to be trained in the hard skills that’s easier than training a strong hard skill candidate in the soft skills. But don’t only rely on personality assessments alone when hiring. They may shine in that area but could fall flat if they don’t have basic skills. They should be able to demonstrate knowledge, skills (even transferable ones at first) and abilities to do the job. Ideally, candidates possessing both soft and hard skills can become strong employees. More info: https://lnkd.in/gZXiZWvA #work #hiring #hires #jobs #jobsearch
