Listened to this Adweek #MarketingVanguard podcast episode between Jenny Rooney and Fandom's CMO Stephanie Fried this morning. One question Stephanie asked herself, and subsequently the listeners, was are we operating too lean? Her point was that a lot of us within #marketing are focusing only on the short-term and not enough on the long-term (either by choice or force). Basically, which is the exact example she shared, we're only interested in how we get $10 today versus $30 next year. And by hyper-focused on every dollar being spent, we're stripping employees of partners, programs or tools they need to excel. Even in a tough environment, it's important to invest in your teams and the resources they need to thrive. Otherwise, it's going to become increasingly challenging to plan for the future, we're going to slow down on innovation, and there will be even more negative impacts.
