🐶🐱 More than half the world is estimated to have a pet at home. However, research has shown that pets play a significant role in the climate crisis. 🥩 This is mainly due to their meat-heavy diets. The production of pet food emits huge amounts of greenhouse gases. We’re not against keeping pets, of course! But, just like with human diets, we need to look at their impact and see if it can be minimised. 🐛 And insect-based alternatives provide a solution to the pet food problem. #petfood #sustainablefood #insectpetfood

Healthy food choices are great for you. Good-food produced environmentally safely can benefit many. What about: ✨️Healthy for you ✔️ ✨️Environmentally safer ✔️ ...and 'conscientiously sound' 🌟 ✔️? Technically if you think about it, we have no right to eat animals 🚫 ; will that help you step up to make a different choice now? 🙏Please 'care' enough as you begin 2024 to choose what you grow, buy, eat carefully 💚 ; choose 'protein rich food' to maximise ... ☆your best health outcomes☆. Though if you can also consider🤔: 👍🏼 animals right to live and not be eaten 💚 👍🏼 and support for reducing the impact of environmental issues linked to mass animal breading for meat production, ... that would be wonderful too 🎯🌎💜💚 #bestofvegan #veganni #vegetarianireland #moralfoodchoices #powerofprotein #knowledgeispower

Founder, Future Green - I help sustainability leaders guide their stakeholders through the transition to sustainable food systems by facilitating innovative workshops. Workshopper Master | Food Systems Sustainability
Our diet is genuinely important in terms of carbon footprint. “Should I go veggie or vegan?” Some of the worst vegetarian diets can match a meat and dairy diet if veg is fully out of season, airfreighted, and from unsustainable production methods. “Should I swap beef for chicken?” In general yes, in carbon terms the most efficient protein is chicken but understand antibiotic use, feed, on-farm practices and animal welfare. Yep, these are the sorts of questions you’ll hear when it comes to people looking to take personal responsibility for their impact on the planet. Feeding the world, environmental degradation, carbon footprint… There are so many environmental issues surrounding food and diet and it can be difficult to find answers. Of course, at Future Green Global | B Corp, food sustainability solutions are something I’m involved in every single day. But, if you’re curious to explore more around this topic for yourself… You’ll want to avoid the jargon and actually get to the heart of the issue. “There Is No Planet B” and “How Bad are Bananas?” by Mike Berners-Lee are interesting books that do just that. If you’ve read them, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/gSq7Ziph http://bit.ly/40q4d3M #foodandbeverage #sustainability #hospitality #carbonfootprint

Over 69% of My Dinners at Home are Meatless" and I'm Not Even Close to a Vegetarian! We as Dutch citizens are onto something! Over 69% have a meat-free dinner weekly. I'm like, "Wow, that's me too!" But here's the fun fact – I’m nowhere near calling myself a vegetarian. Surprising, right? 😄 Here's the deal: 42.6% enjoy vegetarian meals 1-2 times a week, 21.7% go for 3 , and 5% are all-in daily. Vegans? Just 0.5%. University grads lead the pack in meatless meals. Climate change, health, and animal welfare are big motivators. And guess what? Meat sales are down in the Netherlands. Price hikes in food have people eating less meat, some saving 20% by choosing plant-based. Efficiency is key. Plant-based wins in using fewer resources. Think about it: 10kg of grain for just 1kg of meat! So, how about joining the plant-based trend? #PlantBased #SustainableEating #MeatlessMeals #FoodTrends #EcoFriendly

Culinary and Nutrition Interests Outpace Interest in Sustainability In a survey of people who regularly interact with food/beverage related online content and dine out often, the marketing firm Curious Plot’s Consumer Curiosity Report found a lower than anticipated interest in sustainability topics. Although culinary and nutrition topics ranked higher than sustainability topics, within the sustainability category 47% of respondents expressed interest in reducing food waste. The other top sustainability interests were animal welfare and organic agriculture. Only 22% were “extremely curious” about climate friendly eating. https://lnkd.in/euq8FcFq #Sustainability #food #organicfood #foodwaste #nutrition #animalwelfare
