ABB is always staying relevant.
We're pushing the boundaries of electrification technology though our partnership with NASCAR. We are joining forces with NASCAR to form the ABB NASCAR Electrification Innovation Partnership, which will explore high-performance electric racing, electrification infrastructure and energy education. In addition, the ABB NASCAR EV Prototype was launched Saturday at the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race. NASCAR developed the vehicle in collaboration with OEM partners, Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota, the track-tested, electrified stock car has three STARD UHP 6-Phase motors, a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery and a powertrain that can produce 1,000 kW at peak power. We have also become a founding partner of NASCAR IMPACT, a platform that drives sustainability initiatives across the sport. As a key strategic technology and sustainability partner we will help NASCAR reduce its own carbon operating footprint to net-zero by 2035. 🚗🏎️ 𝐍𝐀𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑’𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞! ⚡ NASCAR has unveiled its first electric racecar in Chicago, marking a historic shift in motorsports. This new vehicle, developed in collaboration with Chevrolet, Ford Motor Company, Toyota Motor Corporation, and ABB, represents a bold move towards sustainability and innovation. Unlike traditional racecars, this electric model hums rather than roars. Despite its quieter engine, it boasts impressive performance, accelerating nearly twice as fast and stopping almost immediately compared to gas-powered cars. However, its lap time at Martinsville Speedway was slightly slower due to its heavier build. NASCAR aims to gauge fan interest in electric racing and demonstrate that electric vehicles can be cool, fun, and accessible. Research shows that over half of avid NASCAR fans are more likely to consider purchasing an electric vehicle after exposure to electric racing. The initiative is part of NASCAR’s broader sustainability plan, which includes introducing sustainable racing fuel, recycling at events, and using 100% renewable electricity by 2035. ABB, NASCAR’s electrification partner, will install EV charging stations at NASCAR tracks, accessible to all electric vehicle users. The new car features plant-based materials and embodies NASCAR’s commitment to a greener future. As the electric vehicle market grows, NASCAR’s venture into electric racing could reshape the fan experience and drive forward the industry’s energy transition. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCvj8Rje

🚘 🌱After four great years with my e-Golf VW, I'm wondering: should I upgrade or keep it until it's done? 🤔💭 Spending a lot of time driving around, this car's been a reliable part of my eco-friendly journey.🌱 The problem is battery degradation 🔋⤵️ which affects my driving experience as years go by. Lower battery life - less km remains accessible. Guess, a solution must be found. Recently heard of solid-state batteries, which show promise in extending battery life. It's not just about extending my current vehicle's life but also making sustainable choices for the future. Tempted by the latest tech and efficiency in new models, but there’s also merit in sticking with a faithful ride that still performs well. It seems eco-conscious to maximize its lifespan, right?🚗 #EVLife #SustainableChoices #eGolfJourney #FutureOfDriving #ElecticCars #EcoFriendly

When it comes to cars, electrification feels very much a 21st Century phenomenon. But not only does it have a history that stretches back to the late 1800s, you may well be surprised to learn that the man who founded Porsche – and after whom the company is named – was a pioneer of battery-powered mobility. In fact, Ferdinand Porsche designed the first-ever hybrid car, unveiled as a prototype in 1900 . The Lohner-Porsche Semper Vivus, whose name translates to 'forever alive' in Latin, used an innovative engine-generator setup, delivering power to the wheel hubs, - 110 years before the launch of the Cayenne S Hybrid in 2010, the first electrified Porsche of the modern era. -In 1884 the first production standard electric car in the world was revealed. -In 1900 1/3 of all vehicles on the road were electric. -They started to disappear rapidly around 1920 with the introduction of gasoline by Henry Ford. -Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the eponymous sports car, produced an electric vehicle named the 'P' in 1898, before creating the world’s first hybrid offering, which was powered by both electricity and an internal combustion engine. -Mercedes-Benz also offered an electric model called the Mercedes Mixte, in 1906.This car was adopted as a taxi in the cities and even became a race car in 1907. Therefore, there's nothing so novel in EV. #EV #EvStoriesWorldwide
