Ford lost $132K per EV sold last quarter. I hope the deal Ottawa just signed with Honda for EV vehicle and battery production yields far better results... ------------------- "Ford’s electric vehicle unit reported that losses soared in the first quarter to $1.3 billion, or $132,000 for each of the 10,000 vehicles it sold in the first three months of the year, helping to drag down earnings for the company overall. Ford, like most automakers, has announced plans to shift from traditional gas-powered vehicles to EVs in coming years. But it is the only traditional automaker to break out results of its retail EV sales. And the results it reported Wednesday show another sign of the profit pressures on the EV business at Ford and other automakers." https://lnkd.in/du2ij7qK

Ford is delaying production of an all-electric SUV and pickup truck to focus instead on offering hybrid options across its entire North American lineup by 2030. Ford says it will continue to invest in EVs, but the shift comes as the entire automotive industry has been rethinking plans for electric vehicles. This is not the first time the automaker has hit the brakes on its electric vehicle plans. In October, Ford paused a $12 billion investment in EVs, citing high costs and slowing demand for electric cars. Sales growth for hybrid cars is currently outpacing EVs this year, partly due to high EV prices and concerns over charging. Despite the EV delays, Ford says it is still ramping up EV manufacturing at facilities like its Oakville plant in Ontario and new plants in Tennessee and Ohio. https://lnkd.in/g-kGcxZA?

Automakers Wake Up to Reality on Electric Vehicles CLAYTON, GEORGIA—Driving through rural Georgia, I have yet to see an electric vehicle or a charging station. After promising the Biden administration that they would eliminate most of the cars Americans want to buy from dealer lots by 2035, GM and Ford are now waking up to reality. They are cutting back on projections of EV sales and lowering production targets for the cars and batteries. https://lnkd.in/eKByWrP8
