I have just spent the last two days at the BAPCO 2024 event on the HPE/Athonet stand at the event. Therefore, I thought that I would share my feedback on my own thoughts on the public safety/blue lights mission critical communications market in the UK. Please feel to agree/disagree with my below thoughts! • Tetra still going very strong and is still being invested in • The market continues to search for the best path from existing tried-and-tested, narrowband technologies such as Tetra to LTE/5G broadband/multimedia solutions • Mixed approach and mixed success globally in deploying regional or national public safety networks • Uncertainty around ESN is impacting the UK MCX-PTT market • More organizations delivering fully standardized and end-to-end 3GPP solutions

Call Flow - Handover (Mobility) To provide a seamless connectivity to the users during RRC connected mode, network triggers a procedure called handover so that UE remains connected to the cell with the best radio conditions (signal strength/quality). Handover procedure/flow comprises of three phases - • Handover preparation phase : is the phase when the source RAN(eNB) request the target RAN(eNB) to prepare and accommodate the UE. The target RAN performs admission control and reserves cell resources required by the UE. • Handover execution phase : starts when the source RAN command the UE to make a handover. The source RAN performs packet forwarding to target RAN during the execution phase. The phase ends when the UE access the target RAN and confirms new connection towards the target cell. • Handover completion phase : Here, user data path to the Serving gateway (SGW) is switched over to the target RAN. The handover complete phase starts when target RAN intimates MME and SGW about the handover. Then MME/SGW switches the bearer from source RAN to target RAN. The target RAN informs the source RAN that the handover is completed. The source RAN then releases UE resources. (Ref - 3GPP) There are multiple events occurred during this Intra-freq. HO (A1,2,3,4,5), which will be discussed in next post). 👉 This Lecture belongs to the complete course on Network KPIs & link for the same is - https://lnkd.in/e9TpSHzF #telecom #technology #learning #platform #4g #5g #itelcotech https://lnkd.in/ezqQBxv4

WEBINAR: "Increasing flexibility and performance with Utility PLTE Communications Networks" #Utilities looking to modernize their communications network with private LTE can benefit from leveraging both 900 MHz and CBRS to achieve the capacity and coverage they need, with the ability to connect seamlessly to commercial networks. Anterix Active Ecosystem members 4RF USA, GE Vernova, and RAD are collaborating with Anterix and Sequans Communications to bring to market an LTE Cat-4 multi-band communications module that supports 900 MHz, CBRS, and North America Mobile Network Operators (MNO) bands in a single cost-effective solution. Our panelists will discuss the applications driving the ability to support multiple bands at a lower cost, allowing for flexible band choices to support private broadband networks. How the utility broadband device ecosystem will also benefit from accelerated growth, creating additional value for utilities will also be discussed. REGISTER FREE: https://lnkd.in/eQeafFqV
