As construction continues at the airport, please remember the following: #PlanAhead #BePrepared #ArriveTwoHoursEarly ➡️ Construction activities continue in front of the main terminal. ➡️ Some sidewalks and vestibules remain closed. ➡️ Driving lanes have shifted in front of the terminal. Follow signage and directions from security personnel. ➡️ Shuttle pick-up is now back to its original location near baggage claim. ➡️ Ride share and taxi pick up are to the parking lot to the right when you exit baggage claim. ❌ REMEMBER - Curbside parking is NEVER permitted. Please use cell phone lot or short term parking if picking up passengers. A few other helpful travel tips: 🕰️ All travelers are urged to arrive at the airport no less than TWO HOURS prior to their flight’s scheduled departure. TECHNOLOGY: Tampa International Airport (TPA) updates its passenger experience technology and security checkpoints As part of its ongoing development projects, Tampa International Airport (TPA) in #Florida is to open a self-service bag drop in the Rental Car Center, expand the Airside A and Airside E security checkpoints and unveil a new-look website. By the summer of 2024, TPA will roll out a self-service bag drop process that will enable travelers to use kiosks to tag and drop off their luggage themselves. This technology, new to the airport, is intended to eliminate the need to wait for staff or stand in line. Staff will be on hand to help those who need it, but the process should be speedier and more convenient for seasoned travelers who want to use the new system. In a move to streamline airport security, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the USA is due to begin trialling self-service screening stations. Designed to reduce wait times and enhance passenger experience at airports, the self-service pod concept allows travellers to scan their boarding passes and proceed through the security process independently, with TSA agents available for assistance if needed. "Like self-ordering kiosks at fast-food and sit-down restaurants, self-service screening allows passengers in the Trusted Traveler Program to complete the security screening process on their own," said John Fortune, Screening at Speed program manager. When a passenger steps inside the screening pod, they'll show their ID and then the machine will begin scanning them and their bags. Each station includes a video monitor with step-by-step instructions. These self-screening stations represent a significant shift in airport security protocols, reflecting an emphasis on efficiency and passenger convenience. United Airlines is revolutionizing the airport experience at Chicago’s O’Hare (ORD) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with its new TSA PreCheck Touchless ID program. Now, passengers can breeze through security simply by scanning their faces, eliminating the need to present boarding passes and IDs. ✨ Here’s how it works: After enrolling in TSA PreCheck, travelers upload scans of their passports to their United MileagePlus account via the airline’s mobile app and opt into the Touchless ID program when checking their flights online. Upon arrival at the airport, eligible passengers head to the designated kiosk at the bag drop shortcut area, where their faces are scanned by an agent. From there, they proceed to a special Touchless ID lane at security checkpoints, adjacent to the PreCheck lane. 🔒 Rest assured, the scans are only kept for a limited time for testing purposes and won’t be retained by TSA.
