I'm excited to share that I have completed the "Certificate Course in Situational Awareness of Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles" offered by Hydrogen Village. This course provided an in-depth discussion on the basics of hydrogen, How hydrogen can be produced and its properties as a fuel. I explored the use of hydrogen in various applications: 1. As a feedstock 2. In transportation 3. In heat and power generation The course also covered the energy systems of the past, present, and future, providing a comprehensive understanding of hydrogen's role in the evolving energy landscape. 🔬 Innovations in Hydrogen Liquefaction and Storage: Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future🌍 Exciting advancements are being made in hydrogen liquefaction and storage, crucial components for the hydrogen economy. Hydrogen, with its high energy density and versatility, is a promising low-carbon energy carrier. However, challenges such as energy-intensive liquefaction and hydrogen boil-off losses have hindered its widespread adoption. A recent review by Tongtong Zhang, Joao Uratani, Yixuan Huang, Lejin Xu, Steve Griffiths, and Yulong Ding sheds light on the state of technology in liquid hydrogen supply chains. Key findings highlight: - Technological Innovations: Advances in hydrogen liquefaction cycles, particularly expander liquefaction and magnetic refrigeration, show potential to significantly reduce energy consumption and enhance efficiency. - #Storage Solutions: Addressing boil-off losses through advanced insulation, optimized storage tank materials, and innovative cooling techniques. - Future Outlook: Large-scale hydrogen #liquefaction plants, integrated with LNG terminals and employing mixed refrigerant cycles, could dramatically lower costs and improve viability. #Hydrogen is set to play a pivotal role in decarbonising energy systems globally. CSIRO and Swinburne University of Technology’s Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) have launched a $2.5 million, purpose-built clean hydrogen refuelling station. The station is located at the national science agency’s Clayton, Victoria site, and will be used in research on hydrogen in transport applications as well as for training. According to a statement from Swinburne on Thursday, the new charger is able to generate up to 20 kilograms per day through electrolysis, and has a storage capacity of 80 kilograms, sufficient “for more than 10 cars.” The university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Professor Karen Hapgood, said, “Hydrogen plays a key part in our transition to clean energy, and demonstration projects such as these help to test technical, regulatory and economic aspects of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, and support the urgent training and workforce development for this expanding hydrogen energy ecosystem.” #manufacturing #australianmanufacturing #csiro #hydrogen #greenhydrogen #hydrogentechnology #decarbonisation #transport
