Mitsubishi Power’s #Hydrogen Project – US 1. What Is the Advanced Clean Energy Storage Project ❓ It’s a construction project for a hydrogen hub in Utah in the U.S. — the world’s largest hydrogen plant and storage facilities. It will produce up to 100 tons of green hydrogen per day through electrolysis of water using renewable energy. Two large salt caverns will be used to store the hydrogen. The purpose is to store surplus renewable energy as hydrogen that can be converted back into electricity for the grid when needed to be cost effective and have maximum renewable energy utilization. 2. The Hydrogen Will Fuel Intermountain Power’s New Plant 💡 The green hydrogen produced in the project will be used for a 840 MW #GTCC power plant that Mitsubishi Power is building for Intermountain Power. Starting in 2025 with a 30% green hydrogen blend, the GTCC plant aims to gradually increase hydrogen use to achieve 100% green hydrogen operation by 2045.
