In #Europe, coal-fired power generation is still a major source of #power. By converting coal-fired plants to gas, emissions can be reduced by 50-70%. Mitsubishi Power’s large frame JAC gas turbines, which are fully adaptable for #hydrogen, can further reduce emissions. By running on up to 30% hydrogen, a further 10% emissions reduction is possible. As we make progress towards blending 100% #hydrogen firing, we will realize #zero emissions at the point of generation - a major step forward for power generation and a low carbon future. Hydrogen, Hybrid heat pumps, Biomethane – it seems the government decides what the best route is to achieving Net Zero on a weekly basis. Whatever the outcome, however, it is reassuring to know that a CHP engine installed on-site is capable of working with or alongside the power source of choice. The best way to avoid power disruption to your operations is to take control of how your energy is provided. 📢 New report 📢 Should we transfer green molecules or electrons? This report provides valuable insights into the debate on the most efficient way to transmit green energy. 🔑 Key takeaways: - Hydrogen and HVDC lines are complementary technologies that will be integral components of a complex energy system. - Decisions on which technology to prioritize depend on existing infrastructure, adaptability, risk assessment, and social acceptance. - The availability of existing infrastructure, such as natural gas pipelines, could become a decisive point in a country with a well-developed gas network. - The end user's sector and location are crucial in determining the most efficient solution for each case. 🌍 #Hydrogen #HVDC #GreenEnergy #EnergyTransition #ClimateAction #Decarbonization 💡🌍🔋💨🌱 Check out the full report for more insights on the role of hydrogen in integrating green energy into existing and new energy systems.

While the world is declining its use of fossil fuels, it cannot and will not be able to stop using fossil fuels in the short term. This is why there is a need to build resilient energy systems for power generation that can adapt from using fossil fuels to utilising clean energy. Delve into this topic more with Javier Cavada, President CEO at Mitsubishi Power Europe. Flexible power generation and hydrogen play a key role in the energy transition and the decarbonisation of industry. That is why we are working hard on these technologies. We want to expand our gas-fired power plant portfolio with additional H2-ready power plants and, in parallel, fully decarbonise our existing gas fleet by 2040. For that we are leveraging existing sites in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK to build new FlexGen capacity. In addition, we follow about 30 projects in #hydrogen generation, storage and imports in different stages. With both, we are emphasising our ambition to be an early-mover in Europe's H2 economy.
