Early in her career, Morikawa-san was eager to use technology and machines to make a positive impact on the world. “I was captivated by the advanced nature of the individual technologies, the complex balance of each element, and the potential to have a significant contribution to society.” Today, Morikawa-san leads a diverse team of engineers collaborating on some of the most promising solutions that make decarbonization possible, from bridging technical aspects of gas turbine technology with the #energytransition to hydrogen production. 2wI’m looking forward to the dialogue and sharing of ideas. We are in an an amazing market condition that I haven’t seen in my 30 years in this industry. 24-7 clean baseload generation is a demand need that is driving 6%, in aggregate, demand growth on the US electric grid. This is due to three key factors: 1) Reshoring of manufacturing, 2) Electrification of everything possible, & 3) Next Gen AI learning centers. This significant demand growth is requiring first a viable schedule and secondly a path to clean. Renewables are clean but when the wind doesn’t blow or the sun isn’t shining these industrial processes still need electricity, and at Mitsubishi Power we are demonstrating real utility scale projects and technologies that can deliver on the 24/7 clean balseload generation. Our ACES Delta project in Delta UT is a great example of meeting this need. I’m looking forward to discussing this project and many more that we are working on to meet the 24/7 clean need.
