In the journey towards a greener future, innovation takes center stage. Meet eFuels – the breakthrough solution reshaping transportation. These synthetic fuels, born from renewable electricity and captured carbon dioxide, promise to revolutionize emissions reduction and propel us towards sustainability. eFuels, or electrofuels, are rewriting fuel production. Using renewable electricity, hydrogen is generated through electrolysis. Combined with captured carbon dioxide, synthetic liquid fuels are born. These fuels, compatible with internal combustion engines, hold the key to substantial emissions reduction. With the urgency of climate action, eFuels step in where full electrification faces challenges. Leveraging renewable energy and carbon capture, they stand as potent tools against carbon emissions. The potential for significant emissions reduction aligns perfectly with global sustainability goals. Leaders like Porsche and ExxonMobil are driving eFuel innovation, joined by Siemens Energy, Enel, Gasco, ENAP, and AME. Together, they're shaping a sustainable future and demonstrating collective commitment to progress. While eFuels are in development, their market debut is anticipated. Porsche's integration of eFuels into combustion-engined models is a glimpse of what's ahead. As production matures, eFuels pave the way to sustainable mobility. Crafting eFuels involves: 1. Renewable electricity generating hydrogen. 2. Merging hydrogen with captured carbon dioxide to produce methanol. 3. Methanol transforms into synthetic fuel via advanced techniques. 4. Refined eFuels meet strict quality standards, integrating seamlessly with existing systems. eFuels signal transformation, offering reduced emissions and compatibility with existing infrastructure. As they steer us towards sustainability, we're on a course where performance and environmental stewardship drive hand in hand. #Sustainability #Innovation #eFuels #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Innovation #eFuels #ClimateAction #SustainabilityDriven #InnovationInMotion #EFuelsRevolution https://lnkd.in/da8G54Rc https://lnkd.in/dphvzD2u

Founder, TOOL. Global 100 People & Top10 Maritime Tech Leader 2022 (Lloyds List). Co-chair, 1000 Ocean Startups WG Ecosystem Diversity. Board Director: TECO 2030, Aqua Bio Technology, Kuniko, Bellona, The Factory.
Ignition completed! What a week!!! A huge milestone accomplished by TECO 2030 this week, as one of the world´s most powerful hydrogen fuel cells - designed especially for maritime/heavy applications - is on schedule for first customer deployment H1 2024 🎉🎉 By 2030, the target is to produce a capacity of 4.000 units per year at TECO’s giga factory in Narvik, Northern Norway. In that way, TECO wants to potentially reduce the amount of CO2 emissions similar to the number of annual emissions from countries like Sweden or Portugal and cities like Berlin or Toronto. The manual production of FCM400 systems will continue at the technology development partner AVL in Graz, Austria for the next few units before moving the production to Narvik, Norway during the first half of 2024. The Narvik site is already well underway with manual production of fuel cell stacks. Still looking for something to read over the holiday break? Today the International Energy Agency (IEA) launches a report on the Role of E-fuels in Decarbonising Transport. Rapid deployment of low-emission fuels during this decade will be crucial to accelerate the decarbonisation of the #transport sector. Significant electrification opportunities are available for the road transport sector, while the #aviation and #marine sectors continue to be more reliant on fuel-based solutions for their decarbonisation. Fuels obtained from electrolytic hydrogen, or #efuels, could be a viable pathway and scale up quickly by #2030, underpinned by a massive expansion of cheaper #renewable electricity and anticipated cost reductions of #electrolysers. Low-emission e-fuels can add to the diversification of decarbonisation options that are available for aviation and shipping and there exists a big potential synergy with #biofuels production, especially in the form of biogenic #CO2 utilisation. This new #IEA report presents a techno-economic assessment of a family of emerging e-fuel technologies. It assesses the implications in terms of needed cost reductions, resources and infrastructure investments of an assumed ambitious goal of achieving a 10% share of e-fuels in aviation and shipping by 2030.

Exciting times in the green energy sector! 🍃💡 Green Hydrogen Systems has collaborated with Bilfinger, uniting their formidable expertise to conceptualize hydrogen projects up to 100MW. Picture this: the cutting-edge pressured alkaline electrolyser technology of GHS meets the robust engineering prowess of Bilfinger. Together, they're mapping out not just the technical framework but also the commercial routes necessary for power-to-X projects on an industrial scale. The synergy is clear. Søren Rydbirk from GHS envisions this partnership unlocking green hydrogen's potential through a unified approach towards standardization and simplicity. By doing so, the duo is laying a foundational stone for a future where sustainable energy isn't just a dream but an attainable reality. And there's tangible progress! GHS' X-Series prototype, set to drive profits post-2025, is already proving its mettle at the GreenLab, powered by the EU's GreenHyScale project. With Bilfinger by their side, it's not hard to imagine the acceleration in efficiency and implementation these projects are bound to witness. In the world of green transitions, it's partnerships like these that could lead the charge towards a cleaner planet. 🌍✨ #technology #GreenHydrogenSystemsandBilfinger #sustainability
