My wife, Shannon (Gill) Dayhoff, and I recently had the pleasure of celebrating our anniversary at Sandals Grand St Lucian. This wasn’t our first visit; we spent our honeymoon there last year and fell in love with the place and the people, especially the scuba diving team. Over our visits, we got to know some of the dive instructors, who are not only highly professional but also incredibly friendly and personable. This year, our anniversary was made unforgettable by a simple yet profoundly touching gesture. On the day of our celebration, my favorite dive instructor, kerwin biscette, surprised us by putting up a "Happy Anniversary" banner on a sunken ship we were exploring. This act was entirely his own initiative, and we were unaware of it until we saw the banner underwater. The sight filled us with immense joy and gratitude. He even took pictures and video to help preserve the moment. This experience got me thinking about the concept of emotive loyalty (or what my friend, Chris Gillen, calls "The Taylor Swift Effect") and the impact of personal touches in customer service. Emotive loyalty goes beyond transactional loyalty; it taps into the emotional connection between the customer and the brand. Why are such acts of kindness powerful and how can other companies benefit from adopting similar practices? 🤝 Personal touches create lasting memories. Kerwin's gesture made our entire trip unforgettable. Companies that prioritize memorable experiences can differentiate themselves and build stronger customer loyalty. ❤️ When customers feel personally valued, it fosters a deeper emotional bond. Wow! How has it already been a year?! I’ll tell you what though… that old saying “time flies when you’re having fun” couldn’t be more true. Huckleberry is a blue-colored fruit from the Americas. Key about huckleberries are that they are very small in size. It is its size that inspired the character of ‘Huckleberry Finn’, the famous protagonist of Mark Twain’s 19th century novel ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’. Finn represented socially small, unimportant & insignificant people (hence huckleberries) who suffered from racism, slavery and other vices existed of the time. The novel is an inspiring journey of Finn, showcasing his struggles against his own prejudices as well as against the social vices - and how he claimed his freedom out of it. Like Huckleberry Finn - Airport F&B has a similar transformational story. For the longest time F&B used to be a small and an insignificant part of the airports.
