Arsenal Women are making history, with an all-female team running the grounds and tech operations in the upcoming North London Derby on 3 March. This momentous occasion is a testament to the club's commitment to driving change in women's sport. The club partnered with the WSL, Women in Football and the Grounds Management Association to make this happen. It's inspiring to see women and organisations collectively come together as a driving force and taking action for the betterment of women's sport, both on and off the pitch. Change is more powerful when we come together to achieve our goals. Strength is in numbers. Power is in unity. This isn't a trend. This is the present. This is the future. Women in sport. Women in business. Women leading the way in sport, business, and society. Another great example of a company leaning in and working with athletes to recognize and flex their transferable skills in a business setting. Offering workshops and courses along the way in Sports Business for high school and college athletes can help bridge the perceived gap in skills for as they move into a "second" life or career away from the court, pitch, field or track. By using a familiar space like sports to introduce business, leadership, and entrepreneurial concepts to current players can help make that transition to what's next be a bit smoother and even ignite opportunities they can pursue while playing. Sports Business Classes - - Nationwide, Nike, and others are stepping up in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association). Are there other examples? How can we bring these types of experiences to athletes of varying levels? The skills learned in sports are absolutely transferrable to other spaces, they just need to be packaged up properly and given a chance. What are some local opportunities for athletes at your school? I'm so proud of the work Athlete Ally is doing to champion the rights of all athletes to play the sport that they love. It's ironic that the paternalistic talking points of "it's not fair to women" seem to resonate far more than data and research on trans inclusion in sport, and on real barriers to women's athletic performance and participation. Athletes, scholars, researchers, equality organizations are all calling upon the NCAA to embrace inclusion - - and use facts and scientific research as the basis for their policy toward trans inclusion in sport. Here's what 400 Olympians, paralympians, professional and college athletes said in their letter: "As athletes, we have dedicated our lives to sports. Sports have given us our greatest friends, taught us incredible life lessons, and given us the confidence and drive to succeed in the world. We know that the value of sport goes far beyond the playing field. Sport allows people to develop a sense of self and identity and to reflect what we value as a community. Sport is a tremendous enabler of physical and mental health, teaches valuable lessons on teamwork and discipline, and has brought us lifelong community. Every single student should have access to the lifesaving power of sports. “Although the new deal will help with exposure, revenue, and marketing, it also shortchanges the Kaplan report’s estimated value of the women’s tournament by over $15 million on the low end. Sure, it’s an improvement–in the previous package, the women’s basketball championship was part of another package that included 29 championships broadcast on ESPN, and the package as a whole was valued at $34 million total.
