Today marks my last day at Linklaters, and what an extraordinary internship it has been! 🗓️ I gained valuable insights into commercial law, with a particular focus on M&A and LAI, and many skills sessions that were incredibly valuable and enlightening. 🤩 Part of the internship included sessions about (but not limited to): 1. Growth Mindset 🧠 2. Crisis Management 🚨 3. Interview Techniques and Tricks 😨 4. Social Media and Networking 🛜 5. Skills Improvement 🔝 I also discovered that it is not all about the work or money: it is about finding a firm where I fit into, and feel like “home”. I think I found one! 🏠 I truly want to thank everyone at Linklaters and The Social Mobility Foundation for making this internship a reality! 🙏 A BIIIIIG thank you to Rochelle McPherson and Maddie Pennington who supported me every single day of the internship, and cleared absolutely every doubt I had about this sector. When was the last time you self-advocated? Yes I'm talking to you .. stop scrolling for one second 😉. Here's vintage Em ... I was 19 and doing my internship with Lloyds Banking Group (and feelin' super fancy at a rooftop bar in Bank for post-work drinks 👀 ). During that internship I experienced the importance of self-advocation at a very early stage in my career. Whilst at Bristol I had attended an event on in-house law, on the panel was a man who worked at Lloyds. I was in the office one day and saw the same man who had been on that panel. Here's when I took action. I could have very easily let it go but I've always been the kind of person that wants to continue to learn and develop even if that means that I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I sent him a message where I told him I was looking for a professional mentor and we arranged a coffee meeting. 6 years have now passed and we still meet every month for a catch up. If I hadn't taken a chance on myself I would have missed out on an incredible mentoring experience that has literally spanned a huge chunk of my early adult life. Stop being afraid to take a chance on yourself .. the worst that could have happened to me would have been either a one-time meet or not receiving a response (nothing earth shattering). I would love to know how you have self-advocated because I really don't think we're taught these skills often enough. #selfadvocacy #personaldevelopment #growth

Answer: While it might be tempting to oversee and mentor your child yourself (after all, you know your business best!) give the role of supervisor to someone else. 👷 By having your child report to another seasoned employee, you give them the space to work 💼 and learn 📈 independently without feeling like you’re standing over their shoulder or pressuring them to perform, even if aren’t. One Week Into the Competition: My Journey So Far at J.O. Fabunmi & Co Law Graduate Internship Competition. I wanted to take a moment to share my personal experiences from the past week in this exciting competition. It's been an incredible roller-coaster of emotions and challenges, and I've learned so much already. Firstly, the competition started with a surge of excitement and anticipation. The feeling of being among so many talented and intelligent individuals striving for success is truly inspiring. Throughout the week, I've encountered numerous hurdles and obstacles that tested my resilience. There were moments of self-doubt, but I reminded myself of the incredible support system I have, both online and offline. I've spent countless hours brainstorming, researching, and refining. Late nights and early mornings have become my norm, but the dedication feels worthwhile. Networking has played a significant role. I've had the pleasure of connecting with passionate individuals who share the same goals and aspirations. Their insights and encouragement have been invaluable. I would use this medium to appreciate Team Juris Titans, Praise Olasupo, AICMC(Chartered Mediator and Conciliator), Babalola Samuel Ayobami, Ayorinde Queen,Emmanuella Adeoti for their doggedness and dedication to attain success at last. Receiving feedback, both positive and constructive, has been humbling. It's a reminder that growth often comes from stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing challenges. Lastly, there's a sense of gratitude that fills my heart. Grateful for the opportunity to participate, for the lessons learned, and for the unwavering support of the Management, J.O. Fabunmi & Co (JOF Solicitors), especially the distinguished Managing Partner, Olukayode B. A Fabunmi, friends, family, and mentors.
