What do you think? HFMA Chapters are the best industry resources I have found for networking with colleagues and hearing how others are thinking outside the box. 1st - Take this 3-minute survey to tell the WA-AK chapter how to be your favorite industry resource! 2nd - Repost this link & share why you value your HFMA chapter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality and value of our conferences, the HFMA Washington - Alaska Chapter board is seeking your valuable feedback. Your insights and experiences are crucial to us, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to complete a quick survey. Your input will help us identify key areas for improvement and ensure that our future events exceed your expectations. Thank you for your time and contribution. Best regards, HFMA Washington - Alaska Chapter

* Research alert * .....and Ola from Spain! ... where #COEMinerals researcher, materials engineer Regina Medeiros is attending the 13th International Colloids Conference (#COLL2024). We are delighted to share Regina's new research paper: "Selective aggregation of fine copper minerals using charged polyacrylamides", open access, in Elsevier Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects: https://lnkd.in/gjn_3ukB Congratulations to all authors, including Dr Casey Thomas and Prof. George Franks Research explainer: #Copper minerals are essential for securing the future supply of renewable energy and cleaner technologies, with previous studies showing an increasing crescent copper demand of up to 350% by 2050. The proposed flocculation approach has the potential of improving the collection of the fine copper particles normally lost in industrial separation processes, which can count for up to 20% of total copper in the ore. Additionally, it offers an alternative to #reprocessing existing mineral waste, reducing the need for additional extraction, and potentially saving water and energy use in mineral beneficiation (separation). The research investigates how these polymers interact with the mineral surfaces, their adsorption mechanisms and flocculation capabilities, including in-situ measurement of the size and structure of the aggregates. The research shows important advances about what types of commercially inexpensive reagents can be used for flocculation, and how they can be applied to improve the recovery of valuable copper fine particles. This work should be of interest to readers in the areas of particle aggregation, polymer adsorption, in-situ particle image characterisation, and mineral processing. Great to see so many interesting talks this week at the 13th International Colloids Conference! Come to say hello if you are around :)

Trevor Garcia, IDSc’s National Chairman, spoke to CSJ at the Institute of Decontamination Sciences 2023 conference exhibition about the way forward for the decontamination sector. He highlighted the importance of ensuring the profession has a clear career pathway, and the need for action to ensure the future of the sector is secured, by attracting the next generation of decontamination scientists into the profession. High on the agenda was: - The need for a National reporting system for safety incidents, arising from decontamination, so that issues can be identified and acted upon. - The need to raise awareness of what decontamination units do and the critical role the profession has in ensuring patient safety. - The need for increased the visibility of decontamination as a profession and the career options available. - The need for standardised terms to identify decontamination departments within hospitals and job titles. - Discussion around the potential for registration of decontamination professionals.

To my manufacturing peers and fellow NTMA members - be sure to be there for Andy Sauer 's talk. He has been in our space for some time now, and he is my go-to resource for security and compliance within the defense industrial base - a big portion of that is due to his comprehensive and logical way to overlap business needs and operations. in other words, he's not a fly-by-night security professional. He's familiar with the small business, and the obstacles we face from multiple directions! #manufacturing #smb #cybersecurity
Get ready for NTMA's annual conference in 5 days! See you in Indianapolis! https://lnkd.in/eJUU6wMv Andy Sauer Elizabeth Cory Jimenez Kristen Hrusch, CMP Roger Atkins Doug DeRose Jenny Stupica, PHR, SHRM-CP Allison Giddens
