Students of the Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks Job Corps participated in team-building activities created by Mr. Stinson, the Student Human Resources Officer/EO Officer. In one activity, the students had to interlock their arms and use only one hand each to make a PB&J sandwich quicker than their opponents. In the second activity, one of the pair of students is blindfolded and has to listen to their partner direct them to the finish line after he spins around several times and is distracted by loud music and loud noise. Eliminate distractions, remain focused, utilize your support, and keep your determination! These team-building activities helped to remind students who are working to complete their goals at Job Corps (and in life) that despite challenges and distractions, it is POSSIBLE to get to the FINISH LINE…one step at a time! I am currently attempting College for the fifth time, at the age of 37 what I realized is that the best thing I’ve ever done in my career is to embrace every educational opportunity that comes your way can be incredibly rewarding. Lifelong learning can lead to personal growth, career advancement, and a broader perspective on life. Stay open to new experiences, be curious, and never stop seeking knowledge and self-improvement. Each opportunity can be a stepping stone toward a brighter future.
