Job Corps’ Youth 2 Youth (Y2Y) is a student-led initiative aimed at combating violence and drug use and supporting mental health. #JobCorps campuses across the country celebrated Y2Y Week with fun events like art therapy, wellness days and getting outside to decompress.
Our MINACT team had a remarkable experience at the Job Corps 60th Anniversary Gala hosted by The National Job Corps Association (NJCA) in Washington, DC. The Treasure Island Job Corps Career Transition Services (CTS) Career and Resource Fair was recently held on July 11th on campus. Over 300 Job Corps student trainees were in attendance and met with over 20 employers that represented placement opportunities for all trades offered by TIJCC. The Bread Project owned by a former Treasure Island Job Corps graduate is now employing students for a work based learning (WBL) opportunity at the bakery. The owner Arion Chapman, a Treasure Island Job Corps alumni owns the bakery which is a non-profit organization that helps train students for a career in the culinary industry. The bakery also annually provides meals to over 2,000 people who are homeless. . .
