Wear it Purple describes the 2023 them like this: "For young people who identify as LGBTQIA , the theme represents the importance of taking ownership of their narratives and to share their experiences in their own voices. This process of storytelling can be empowering and affirming and by speaking from their hearts, young people can also contribute to a broader cultural shift towards greater acceptance and visibility for LGBTQIA individuals." 🗓️ June is one of my favourite months of the year 6️⃣ 🌈 While I read posts celebrating Pride Month, I realize is also the 13th anniversary of the Ruggie’s “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. “🔖 The intersection of both occasions is clear: business have a vital role towards the inclusion of LGBTQIA people. And businesses are built by the people! As I reflect on my journey towards an LGBTQIA ally, here are some steps I have taken: ➡️ I took time to educate myself on language use or historical events such as the Stonewall riots. ➡️ I tried to ask and listen before stating. Because only members of the community can say what feels right - or wrong. ➡️ I worked to challenge and unlearn the biases ingrained in my upbringing. ➡️ I started to speak out against exclusive statements or microagressions. Today beyond my corporate role, I continue on my learning journey. 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈Because the basics are in the Human Rights Declaration: all human beings are equal. #pridemonth #humanrights

Q'd aims to be on the leading edge of creating a new way for queer highly motivated queer professionals to gather, transform, and make massive impacts in the world. We believe that as Queers we bring a unique perspective and are capable of helping to open up the world in new ways. We have learned throughout time to diminish our light, to be afraid of who we are, to hold back and so many other limiting beliefs. Yet we have forged on throughout time as writers, creators, disrupters, and trailblazers despite setbacks and trials. We believe firmly in raising the vibration of our community. We have fought for so long but are learning that we can accomplish so much more when we heal, transform, and unite. We are a community for Queers that: Are doing their work to transform. Desire authentic connections. Tired of not having a powerful queer community. Desire to impact the world with their unique gifts. Know that when we have peers around us we can go further. Often being the only queer at the table. Value Freedom, Joy, Expansion, Abundance, and Appreciation. Follow us for our twice-monthly virtual gatherings and our upcoming release of a short but powerful monthly newsletter. Jeff Wilson and Paul Honeycutt are excited to Unite a Global Community of Queer Perspectives.

Such a beautiful evening and beautiful people. Thanks for hosting this workshop (and inspiring talks). I take lots of learnings and reflections back home. But overall, I believe is wonderful that through initiatives like this one we can find space, language, and tools to have important conversations about: How can we create more open, safe, playful, fluid, loose, self-explorative, and inclusive spaces? How does that look like in your imagination? And how that can be translated to the buildings we interact with? 💖
May 8th I’m co-hosting a meetup in Rotterdam to explore the topic of ✨queer imagination✨ What is the queer imagination? How does it and can it shape the future? And what role do queer spaces have in nurturing it? This meet-up is for queer organisers / people active in queer nightlife / designers / futurists / artists / activists / academics & researchers or anyone interested :) 📅 Wednesday 8th of May from 19:00 📍 Location: .zip space, Rotterdam 🎟️ The event is free, but let us know if you’re coming: https://lnkd.in/gBdGtfFA Hosted together with Killian Poolmans (he/him), Lucy J.H. Schreurs, Eva Ventura, Dorian Kingma, and TJ Rivera

There is a clear demand for representation of queer voices, and their narratives in the books and stories we read. But do all publishers recognize it? When mainstream publishing houses do not relate to the need for this demand, that's when independent publishers step in. While we witness a number of initiatives being taken to uplift and endorse queer narratives, it is also seen that queer voices are no longer dependent on traditional publishing spaces to share their stories. What does the scope for these stories look like with an increase in independent publishers? Storytelling can and should be used to elevate our collective narratives. This is a beautiful reflection of that.
America Ferrera said that the best use of storytelling is to “hold the truth that we are all worthy of being seen. Brown, indigenous, Asian, trans, disabled, any body type, any gender, we are all worthy of having our lives richly and authentically reflected.” 👏
